Will provide care for all pet types

Pet care experience

Hello! I’m Johnny! I’d like to start out by thanking you for taking the time to visit my profile. I hope I can bring a wonderful service to you and your fur babies! I’ve owned many dogs my entire life (with the exception of now, my current apartment doesn’t allow dogs or cats) and grew up with multiple breeds ranging from German shepherds, dachshunds, chihuahuas, golden retrievers, and pit bulls. My last dog, Friday, a Basset Hound and Australian Shepherd mix, lived out a full life and died of a stroke. I had her for 8 of the 16 years of life she had on a farm in Texas. One day, during the last few weeks of her life, her back legs went out, she was drooling excessively, and had no control of her bladder. I took her to a local vet, who was also one of the first people to clone a cat in Texas A&M. He told me it was possible she had a stroke but he couldn’t detect anything. He sent me home with some special, soft dog food, and medication. I had to hand feed her the wet dog food because she couldn’t stand up. This went on for 2 weeks, with me also taking her outside and getting her to move her back legs again. She started walking again, and then for a few days she was almost completely back to normal. This was short lived however. 2 days later she had completely deteriorated worse than she was, and had to be put down. She had a series of small strokes and one big one, and she never came back from it. She was the last dog I owned. This was 5 years ago. However, last fall, I had the opportunity to rescue a pit bull. His name is Tyr, and he is the one you will find in my photos. Tyr was locked in a crate for almost 6 days. A close friend and I rescued him, and I brought him to his new owner, a very close friend of mine where he is currently getting lots of love. He is not in my care full time, as I mentioned before, I cannot have animals in my current apartment, or else I would have taken him in a heartbeat. I do sit and visit him regularly however. I take him on hikes, super long walks, get him doggie ice cream, and lots of time wrestling and tug of war. He is super energetic,so long walks are necessary to burn off all that excitement. So, if you need a motivated, energetic individual to match energy with your excited ball of fuzz, I’m your man! Long walks and hiking trips are definitely in your doggies future.

I have had such a hard time finding anyone I could trust with my animals. Johnny has been an absolute life saver! I can leave home knowing my pets are all well cared for while I’m away. He stays in constant contact, sends photos and videos and updates. My animals really enjoy his company and get excited to see him when he comes to watch them! Everything is always under control and I never have to worry about my babies in his care.

Safety, trust & environment

I can handle most situations outside of serious medical treatments and grooming. If there are specific situations, they can be discussed and I am extremely transparent. After all, these are more than just pets to us, these are members of our families, and I will never lie about a situation I can’t handle. I can give oral medications and I am comfortable giving injections as long as the owner is willing to show me how they do it. I am not certified in anything at the moment, however, I will be looking into CPR classes, and I am also trying to become a trainer, so training services will also be available later on away from Rover. I know how important routine can be to your pets as well, so I will make sure everyone gets their food and water, portions right and on time. I also do not mind cats, birds, reptiles, fish, turtles…I love all animals, and will be glad to help you with all your pet needs, including feeding the mouse to the snake!

Information Johnny D. would like to know about your pet

Before any service with a new customer, I would like a meet and greet, where we can get to know each other and your pet(s). This is the most important part for us. Useful information for me to know includes, but is not limited to : - Does your pet respond to commands/perform tricks? _ Favorite toys, treats - Feeding schedule and portion size - Specific diets/food allergies - Emergency contact information for local family members if you are out of town or unavailable - Veterinarians name and contact info - Is your pet allowed on furniture or not? - Any special requirements, assistance, recent surgeries, tender spots that may cause discomfort if the animal has to be picked up. - Is your pet afraid of masks, hats, bandannas, glasses? - Will your pet get along with other animals if caring for multiple animals at one time or if encountering other animals on walks, or small children wanting to pet your animal in public? - Is your dog a recent rescue, was it abused, afraid of certain movements or gestures? - Anxiety, separation anxiety, behavioral issues? I understand how important our fur babies are to us, and my goal is make sure all human and animal minds are at ease!

A typical day

We can lots of things as I am very active, and love high energy dogs! Long walks, running around the back yard, and hiking trails are a must. Trips for doggie ice cream during the summer months, and if they are all really good, I might even get them all a new toy with an extra loud squeeker to annoy mom and dad with when they return home!!! ??

I currently work full time in another field during the day. I will make this full time if I can get enough work in this field, so on weekdays, evening services will be available, and this means all services. I have no specific time, as I get done with services at various times, but am mostly home by 6pm. I can do night-time sits, for I have a company vehicle and can leave from your house in the morning to my service area for my current job. I can do evening walks and quick visits as well. Walking and quick visit cut off times are 9pm on weekdays and weekends are negotiable for any need.
