Loving Care When You're Not There.✨

Pet care experience

Greetings! I primarily service SF/SSF and Oakland/Berkeley/Albany, but my service area has recently expanded due to being mobile, so don’t hesitate to send a request if you are outside of it. To ensure a quick reply, please send me your address/closest intersection and I’ll let you know if I’m able to service your home. Fully Vaccinated 3/2021, booster 10/21, bivalent booster 3/23. Hi, I'm Johnny! I'm proud to offer safe, fun, and quality pet care services for your family. I truly enjoy working with all sorts of animals and would be happy to help take care your dog, cat, bird, domestic pets, fish and even exotics while you are away from home. When it comes to canines, I enjoy caring for multi-dog as well as mixed animal households. I'm caring, structured and have a strong grasp on both dog and cat behavior. This skill set allows me to adapt to their personality and needs in a calm and easy manner rather than assuming I know them right off the bat. My professional experience includes working over 4 years with a dog walking company that specialized in structured pack walks and working for a cat sitting company for the last 5 years. Many of the dogs that I worked with were rescues and had behavior problems and it was a joy helping them succeed and learn to have a more quality life while getting lots of healthy exercise! I was able to deeply bond with many of the dogs I worked with as well as their owners and that led me to caring for them in their own home. These connections eventually led to referrals and having the pleasure of caring for special needs dogs and senior dogs. There's nothing better than making a new friend, ensuring their safety, and having some good fun at the same time! My methods for walking involve incorporating positive reinforcement and using treats (provided by owner) to help build trust. Add a dash of flexibility and lots of energy for the young ones and patient mindfulness for the well-seasoned and you get happy dogs all around. I would love the chance to meet you and care for your pet in the comfort and safety of their own home. As an addition to my petsitting services, I also offer photos, occasional videos & updates sent to owners every day. I look forward to sending some snazzy pics and keeping you up to date on your pet’s adorable antics! I'm excited to continue learning about how to get the best out of Rover and offering my high-quality services to those in the Bay Area. Thank you for reading & hope to hear from you soon, Johnny

Safety, trust & environment

_________________ * Safety, trust & environment* How do you care for pets in your home and/or your client's home? Caring for a pet in the comfort of their own home is how I primarily operate. I have seen that pets tend to be happier when they are in a familiar place that feels safe to them. I offer empathic, engaged, and structured care with your family member, and I am skilled at following most care routines/protocols. I am gentle, playful, kind, and truly love the animals I get to work with. My primary service and passion is as a specialized pet sitter with an interest in caring for senior, sick, disabled, and hospice pets as well as shy, fearful animals. Truly, all are welcome, but I do prioritize and look out for the pets that need specialized care, regardless of species. My second passion is dogwalking! I’ve been working as a dogwalker for many years and in that time, my physical abilities have shifted after 10 years of working with rescues and larger dogs. I am happy to meet you and your pet to see if there’s a connection and whether we are all a good fit. I have a reasonably high success rate with fearful/behaviorally-challenged/unsocialized/reactive rescue dogs, but my roster is limited for pups that pull hard during walks. I have extensive experience with long-term housesitting and pet sitting responsibilities as well as medical experience (pills, insulin shots, sub-q fluids, special diet prep/medical requirements). I’m an omnivore, live quietly and minimally, am fragrance-free and a non-smoker. Lastly, I rarely board pets in my own home, however, exceptions have been made for smaller animals or in the event of an emergency. Feel free to contact me to see if I’m available for short or long-term boarding for your small dog, cat or pet.

Information John M. would like to know about your pet

I'd like to set up a meet and greet and chat about what your pet’s needs are. I also may ask for an initial phone call to ask some basic questions that let me know if we’re all a good fit. I am open to all breeds - they're all special in their own way! How could I not love them all? I deeply value rescues and have a huge soft spot for animals with behavioral problems as well as seniors and animals with special needs.

A typical day

I've lived in Oakland since 2007 and love the Bay Area! I enjoy walking dogs in their own neighborhood and getting some good, wholesome exercise. I'm happy to take your pup to a nearby dog park to play and can even offer up to two hour walks for those that have lots of energy! I currently have access to a vehicle and drive a 2016 Toyota Prius. I am a licensed and insured driver with a good driving record. I am comfortable transporting pets for vet appointments and for any emergencies, of which I have had none to date. I am pet CPR certified.

* Schedule* How does pet care fit into your daily or weekly routine? Timing is a big factor for me as I work for a catsitting company in the mornings, occasionally walk dogs in the afternoon and you’ll often find me dog/catsitting for clients. I’m a scheduler and do my best to communicate clearly and reply as soon as I am able. While I can rearrange my schedule with advance notice, I’m not the best match for animals that need to be checked-on/pottied every four hours or less without additional discussion & compensation. I can check-in every 5-7 hours easily. __________________
