Certified Dog Trainer\Volunteer
Pet care experience
I’m a proud “dad” of a 8 year old Siberian Husky who is the absolute love our our lives (wife & I). We had the pleasure of working with her to achieve her Canine Good Citizenship certification in 2015 before moving to the Seattle area (from NY). I’ve volunteered at the Seattle Humane Society in Bellevue as part of the Dog Behavior and Socialization team for the past three years. My time is spent working with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments including those with behavior and on leash reactivity challenges. In addition, I also help to train new volunteers and actively foster dogs who are experiencing elevated stress due to their time at the shelter - fostering is one of my great joys in life. In June of 2017, I completed a Certificate in Canine Studies (Professional Trainer - positive reinforcement/force free/evidence based methods) at the Northwest School of Canine Studies and am an active Dog Trainer - group classes as well as individual training and in home consultation. I’m extremely active with continued education attending professional seminars quarterly in addition to weekly self study. Additionally, I am currently attending a Certificate Program in Applied Animal Behavior at UW. I enjoy helping dogs and their owners in every way possible - whether that’s a simple walk, basic training, or more advanced challenges.
Reviews
John is awesome!! My dog Loki loved spending time with him. I received very detailed reports from each visit and wonderful pictures. As a dog trainer, John's advice and feedback was great. Very evident how much John cares and loves animals. Plan to use John ongoing for care of our fur baby.
John was great! He sent us pictures of our dog everyday which gave us peace of mind while on vacation. We’ll absolutely need John again in the future! His professionalism, care and obvious love for dogs really shows in is work. Mac can’t wait to hang with John again soon!
We have always had friends or extended family who could watch our dogs, so this was the first time we needed to use someone from Rover. John had a lot of positive reviews and we can see why after having him care for our boys. He was extremely responsive during the entire process, from the initial meetup to the end of our visit period. He left entertaining and informative cards for each visit and we could see that the boys were responding well to his care. He cleaned up their area after their messes and reported clearly on their activities. John exceeded our expectations and we will definitely reach out to him again when we need our dogs cared for!
John was wonderful with our dog Scotty. He worked so hard to help Scotty get connected to him. Including visits to his home with his own dog and outings to the park and for walks. Scotty has been so connected to us since his mate died just a bit ago. He worked with that and cared for him with love.

Information John K. would like to know about your pet
I love all breeds of dogs. I’d love to know how your Dog joined your family: breeder, shelter, etc. as well as any reactivity challenges you have seen - people, other dogs (on leash/off leash), as well as any pertinent medical issues to look out for.
A typical day
I love walking and hiking with my dog and would love to do the same with your dog(s). While a 30 minute walk does not lend itself to going on a hike, I’m very happy to customize half day hikes at distances and locations of your choice! I’m also very happy to visit a dog park if that’s what you prefer as I’m very comfortable reading canine body language and managing groups of dogs. My experiences will ensure that your pup(s) are safe and getting the most out of our time together.
