Hi there! I'm Joel and I love forging connections with new dogs. I love all kinds of pups: Rowdy dogs bring joy and quiet dogs bring serenity. I do miss running and hiking with my pups, so having new companions is wonderful. I raised my two Cocker Spaniels, Fred and Louis, since they came into my life as puppies 15 years ago. I moved to New York early in 2018 to work as a freelance writer, so I have a flexible schedule and an enduring love for all animals, particularly dogs. I think the qualities that make a person a good friend - kindness, patience, playfulness - also make a person a good dog owner. And I'd like to think I possess all those qualities. One of my favorite quotes is "Be the person your dog thinks you are." I feel a responsibility to be a great caretaker for dogs, and I know that involves much more than just feeding and occasional potty breaks. A rich and fulfilling life for a dog means attention, engagement, and love! I'm very much looking forward to meeting your dog :)

I should have written this ages ago... Joel is the best pet sitter ever. He is flexible, reliable, thoughtful, clean, and wonderful with all my pets. He is very communicative, sends photos/videos, and loves playing and hanging with my little ones. I am almost reluctant to write how great he is, because I don't want competition for his time! Unselfishly... I couldn't recommend him more highly.

Joel was a terrific dogsitter! Very professional throughout, handled a mischievous and temperamental dog (and my long list of instructions) with calm, ease, and good humor. Very responsive, regular pictures and updates, really set us at ease so we could enjoy our trip knowing our little beast was in good hands.

I always make sure to walk my dogs on different routes, so they can smell new smells and see new sights. I have favorite spots all over New York. Riverside Park is one of my favorites, with a lovely walking path all the way around it. I run three times a week, and would love to bring your dog if that’s workable. I also go hiking frequently, and love exploring new hiking routes.
