Dogs Best Friend
Pet care experience
Several years ago my son literally begged me for a puppy . He walked my neighbors dog every day . In turn, my neighbor promised him a puppy . I regected this idea whole heartedly even though he ( son ) and my wife lobbied daily with assurances that they would care for the puppy . Reluctantly I agreed. For the first 3 months or so he was terrific at taking care of the little pup however he soon became slack. At the time , I was a restaurant manager and worked long hours. After coming home several days to find that no one had walked the puppy, I begin walking the little pup . This became a life altering experience. Little did I know that Sal over the next 8 years or so would become my best friend. I remember the late nights after a 12 hour day finding the kids on the phone or playing a video game . Finding my wife on HSN or reality tv . No real greeting as I opened and entered the door. But who was it to sprint across the room and leap into my arms with so much affection daily. After that awesome daily greeting , he would then run over , pick up his dog leash and bring it to me expecting a walk. I always obliged. As he grew older and larger , this trend continued. Soon I had a 55 pound pink nose pit bull running full speed leaping into my arms daily. We would sometimes walk before I would leave for work and several times on my off days . I few years back , there was in incident where Sal was trying to protect his puppy and bit someone on the hand . I had to have him put down. I really miss the relationship .. I really miss the walking. That experience was so painful to me , I said that I would never own another dog . I have zero experience walking other people’s dog . I love the outdoors , I love walking and I really did love my dog Sal .
