Most of my experience with dogs has been with my wonderful boxer, Emmette, who passed recently. I also regularly walk several friend's dogs when they're out of town or in need of assistance at the last minute. I'm freakishly strong and comfortable with all sizes and breeds. 3 days a week, in my other life I'm an ER nurse so I'm very calm and cool in the face of any situation where your pet might require medical care or any other unforeseen situations. My work is very high stress and I find connecting with creatures (dogs et al.) to be both a gift and a relief when I'm not working with patients.
