My love of animals began as a child growing up around all types of pets, then continued into my adulthood, inspiring me to pursue a life surrounded by animals. After dog-walking and pet sitting for a small company I became a dog bather, helping a master groomer with dogs of all sizes and ages. From there, I became a Certified Veterinary Assistant. After completing my internship at an Animal Hospital, I began educating pet owners on proper care and nutrition at a Natural Pet Store, giving pet owners the education they need to enable their pets to live happy, healthy lives. With over 12+ years of experience working with all kinds of animals, including cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, bearded dragons, turtles, fish, and birds, I have a true passion of caring for animals. For me, pet sitting means that I get to do what I love every day with the best companions. What more could anyone ask for?

We really can’t say enough about Joannie...she was an absolute dream for our boys (a Great Dane and Rhodesian Ridgeback)! This is her second time keeping them in our home, and we hope we’ll never have another sitter. She goes above and beyond to make sure they’re happy and healthy. Plus, she sends us daily reports and multiple photos that actually describe how they’re doing (emotionally AND physically) and what they’ve been up to. It made the two of us (who are usually so nervous to be away) able to totally relax and focus on our honeymoon. We couldn’t recommend Joannie enough — even though, let’s be honest, we’d love to keep her all to ourselves 😜. Thank you, Joannie!!
Joannie is incredible dog sitter. She is able to bond with our Bentley who is not easy to get close to due to medical condition. Joannie is able to get him out of his playpen without a treat and she is responsible and keep our house clean when we were gone. She even gave Ellie a bath when she had diarrhea and made a mess and washed her blanket. She is truly dependable and I would use her again without hesitation.
I could not be happier with having Joannie sit with our pups. We got daily pictures and updates, the pups were clearly so well cared for while we were gone, and the amount of cuddles benny and zelda had were as if we were home ourselves. I am so glad I contacted her. Will be calling Joannie from now on!!
I can't say enough about Joannie. She is so dependable She is trustworthy She is great with all animals She takes such good care of my dog (Archie) and loves him like he is her own She takes amazing care of my house (I travel a lot for a living and I know I never have to worry about Archie when I travel) She brings him treats and spoils him She has become a second mom to my dog (I love my dog more than anything in this world -- I wouldn't trust just anyone to take care of him) MOST importantly my dog LOVES her and its a huge treat for him when she is caring for him. I can't say enough about Joannie...she means the world to my dog, and we love her!!!

I love meet and greets! It’s a great opportunity for the three of us to see if we’ll be a good match. I have no preferences in size, shape, or breed of dog (they’re all perfect). To ensure that your pet gets the highest level of care and attention, I’ll want to know as many details as I can, including (but not limited to) the following: Does your pet have allergies? What is your pet’s favorite treat? What brand of food do you feed your pet? Is your pet an escape artist? How does your pet get along with other pets and people? What is your pet’s favorite type of activity? What does a typical day look like for your pet?
A typical day
Before taking your dog into my care, I will try to get to know the pup through you. I’ll make sure I fully understand their level of comfort around other dogs and people, and I’ll plan our schedule around your dog’s favorite activities. If your dog likes outdoor activities and meeting new playmates, I’ll be excited to take your dog with me on my frequent outdoor adventures, including long, steady, peaceful walks or light jogs through forest preserves and trails. I will fill our days with trips to the lakefront, and excursions around the city of Chicago and neighboring suburbs. There are a few enclosed dog parks with natural water and trails near me, so if your dog enjoys meeting other dogs and has the dog park tag, I will greatly enjoy taking them there to meet new friends. If your dog prefers quality one-on-one time and lazy days, we will play at home with toys or snuggle up on the couch for belly rubs. Throughout the stay, I will text you photos and updates of our time together so that you can rest assured your pet is well taken care of. After our time together, I will make myself available to you to answer any questions you may have. Overall, my goal is to make sure your dog gets all the love and attention they’re accustomed to.

Availability
I work full-time at a school, so during the school year, I am really only available for drop ins or dog walking on the weekends and occasionally some week days. However, during the summer months, I am free to visit with your pet more often and look forward to spending time with them.
