Home-based writer and dog lover

Pet care experience

Hello! I am an empty nester and sadly both of my dogs passed last year. I’m not ready for dogs of my own but would be delighted to take care of yours. Simply put, I love dogs and will treat yours as my own in every way. Your dog can stay at my house while you’re away. I have a pet-friendly house with a fully fenced yard for bathroom trips and playtime. If you prefer for me to house & petsit at your home, I will bring my own bedding and food to stay there overnight. I have over 25+ years experience owning and taking care of dogs. I have a Red Cross pet first aid/CPR certification with plenty of references. What else? I cared for and owned large dogs such as German Shepherds and Labs. Let’s set up a meet & greet unless you are from out of town. When we meet we can discuss your needs and how best to care for your dog(s). Up to date vaccinations are a must. So please call or text me to get started. Customized dog training for all ages and sizes is available upon request ($85/hr). Looking forward to meeting you and your dog(s). Thank you! Joanne

We were delighted with Joanne’s care and attention. This was the first time I’d ever left my two Chihuahuas and I didn’t know what to expect. Joanne went out of her way to be sure they were comfortable and happy. She even sent us pictures! We are very grateful and will definitely be back.

Joanne recently took care of our golden retriever. She is a nice lady and kind with all sizes of dogs. She was responsive before and during our pets stay. I would feel comfortable leaving our golden there anytime.

Joanne is very great with Willow and Bear. She cares for them as if they’re her own. She sends regular updates and pictures of our puppies. We will definitely be rebooking in the future.

Information Joanne F. would like to know about your pet

I’ll ask you a lot of questions about your dogs personality and needs at our meet and greet. Will need a copy of your pet’s last rabies vaccination - photo of it in a text will do. It will be helpful to know what behaviors you’re trying to reinforce or discourage before the stay. In other words if your dog is crate trained at night, your dog will sleep in a crate here, if you don’t want your dogs on your couches at home, I will keep them off of my couches, etc,. We can discuss this in detail when we meet.

A typical day

I love to take dogs to the beach and, or, Gordon’s Pond trail at CHSP. So it will important for me to know how many miles your dog can walk. On very hot or cold days (<32F), I typically keep the dog walks limited or just play with them in my fenced in yard. The sand, concrete and some trails at CHSP can burn your dogs paws and don’t want to risk that happening or heat stroke. In addition, late spring and summertime is tick time here, so I keeps the dogs off of wooded paths until the weather is consistently below 65F. If I take your dog to the beach and they get wet or like to swim - also let me know if that’s ok- l will wash the sand and salt water off of them when I get home. Feel free to supply me your favorite bath soap and I will give them a bath. If your dog cannot walk very far, we can go for short walks to let them sniff around at the park or play in the backyard. I’ve cared for senior dogs and the walks might be hard but they still need some outdoor time.
