Home full time; dog-care experience

Getting to work with pups has always been a great experience for me. I’ve really enjoyed everything from raising my own dog, to helping friends and family out with theirs, to volunteering at animal shelters. I love how every pup has a unique personality, but they mostly seem to share the sunny mindset that they're going to adore you unless given a reason not to. I could certainly learn from that kind of outlook ...

What Joan would like to know about your dog

Some things I like to learn ahead of time:

Would you like to schedule a meet-and-greet before the stay?
What’s your preferred method of communication?
Does your pup have any health issues that need to be tended to? For instance, dietary restrictions, medicine, or behavior triggers?
Does your pup like to stick to a given schedule, like regular walks in the morning and evening?
What does your pup do well around? What does your pup try to avoid?
What’s the best way to spoil your pup?

When Joan watches your pet

I love to stay active, and believe that keeping healthy is one of the best ways to stay happy as well. During a stay, I would probably take your pup around to the safe parts of their neighborhood, so they can keep within familiar zones. I’m no stranger to going on longer expeditions, and I do enjoy Runyon Canyon and other such trails for lengthy hikes. But I'm just as happy to explore new areas (provided that they are free from heavy traffic) or take head out to my favorite meadow or dog park. The more comfortable the dog is in their surroundings, the easier it will be to bond with them.
