Providing a home from home - sighthound specialist

Pet care experience

I am a caring, experienced dog owner and would care for your dog as my own. I have my own rescue lurcher and volunteer and foster sight hounds for a local charity. I believe dogs are members of the family, are welcome anywhere in the house or garden and have the first pick of the most comfortable sofa! I grew up with dogs as my parents trained gun dogs and, at one point, we had five spaniels and labradors who were all loved enormously. My resident lurcher, Eddie, is a gentle, calm dog who gets on well with all dogs and cats…large and small. Unlike some sighthounds, he has no prey drive and doesn’t chase..well maybe the odd squirrel … ..his best pal is a pug and he loves to do zoomies with any dog up for a good run I work fully from home and have a flexible schedule so can take your dog(s) for regular walks throughout the day and they would not be left alone. I live with my two older sons who are 14 and 20 and also great dog-lovers and would happily play with your dogs at any opportunity. I have a large, fully secure garden and your dog(s) would have free access to the garden and house throughout the day. I work full time from home on a flexible schedule. I can also accommodate, board or dog walk at weekends as now my kids are older I have no regular commitments. I work full time from home and have a flexible schedule so can take your dog(s) for regular walks and they would not be left alone. I have a large, fully secure garden and your dog(s) would have free access to the house and garden throughout the day as well as regular walks, playtime and a cosy place to snooze.

What more can we say. Jo and Eddie looked after our 2 dogs Jane and Louis as though they were their own. We had some lovely photos and a video of them enjoying a run about. When we arrived at Jo's they knew where they were and were very happy to see her, (and Ed) as this is the 4th or 5th time we have booked Jo. We actually now live in the Highlands but had to travel to France and drove 684 miles to Jo as we would not trust our 2 dogs with anyone else! We are definitely going to rebook her next year.

Information Jo W. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your dog has and special needs I can account for. I am happy to take care of any breed of dog and have particular understanding of sighthounds.

A typical day

I love to provide a variety of walks…a ‘sniffy’ walk where we can take our time and every blade of grass and lamppost can have a good sniff! Then an off-lead walk…if this is appropriate…where full on zoomies can happen. In between plenty of toys, licki mats, healthy chews and of course a comfy place to snooze. I am lucky enough to live in a lovely village with a variety of local walks including parks, fields, estuaries, woodlands and beaches.
