Hi there, I have been waiting for an app like this for a while to indulge my absolute LOVE of dogs (and cats - cat people please contact me)! I'm in my thirties, a responsible graduate student with some time to spend outdoors or in with your pets. I had a Japanese spitz growing up (for about 7 years) and while I haven't been able to have a dog whilst being in school (no pets allowed by my landlord) I'm usually the person friends ask to take their dogs on walks or to petsit for them. I'm warm, positive, flexible in interactions with you and your dog, absolutely open to taking directions and committed to making it a pleasant experience for everyone involved! I also like working with people who need my services regularly...this way I get to cultivate a relationship with the dog(s) and cats and this is really the most fulfilling thing about doing this job.

We are just beginning with Jita. My Yorkie is an emotional support dog and VERY bonded to me. Jita walked her twice, and reported honestly and clearly about how my pup behaved. I will definitely ask her to help me again.

Regarding Jita: Jita has been my dogwalker numberous times for my large black labrador, Merlin, now eight years old. She not only loves dogs but she knows how to communicate with my energetic dog and yet stay in control. She is very honest and dependable, always on time. Without hesitation I recommend her to my family when they go on vacation, leaving their dogs behind.

I tend to prefer dogs that have been socialised to interact with people already (small to moderate sized, but the big ones are welcome so long as I make sure on the first meeting with you that I know how to handle them properly). I LOVE golden retrievers and Labs as well as dogs in the broader genre of 'Wolf Dogs' like Huskies and Malamutes. But really, I'm open to them all as long as they don't have a history of overt aggression towards unknown handlers. Also, I LOVE taking care of puppies of any kind! Open to bathing and brushing duties as well!
A typical day
I would love to take your dog on walks in your neighbourhood, or to the Dogpark in Berkeley and up in the Berkeley Hills. For animals that need a lot of exercise I can also go on moderate-fast paced jogs with them. I can also just be the person who comes to check in on them, cuddles them and interacts in a caring & sensitive way with them (always making sure to observe them closely and trying not to impose any behaviour on them that makes them uncomfortable).
