Our first Rover booking canceled before our trip due to a family emergency. I messaged two others who looked to be good choices. Jim answered first. I'm sorry to report that booking him was a mistake. Honestly, I wanted to like this choice. He is a veteran, and I love to support our veterans. He is elderly and I love to help our older population. Jim said he has experience and used to be a dog trainer. Another plus. Return customers; that's great! However, things didn't go well from the beginning. When I dropped our two pups off, Jim said he doesn't usually like to take beagles. This raised alarm. Why did he take my pups if he doesn't care for beagles? One of the reasons I sent an inquiry to him is because I read he had a doggy door. My dogs are accustomed to these and use the restroom as they please or go explore outside. He promptly told me that he will keep the doggy door closed and open it for them to go out because he likes to watch them when they are out. That defeats the purpose of a doggy door. When I asked for an update on the third day (I had not heard from him since the first), he responded with "They're fine." That's all I got. I asked for an update with a photo once per day. When we went to pick them up, I noticed one of our dogs in a crate. I have no idea how long he had been keeping her in there. He then told me that one of my dogs is incredibly sweet but that my other dog was going to "ruin him". I was confused and then in disbelief when he told me what a horrible dog she is. He said she is mean and that she is not house broken. I was shocked. She has always been sweet and gentle and precious and fully potty trained. Our other dog is sweet and potty trained because our older dog taught him to be that way. She is an incredible mentor for him. If there were issues, maybe it is because she was traumatized or because he fed her something besides the dog food supplied. Or perhaps she got into something (his home is messy). I'm not faulting him. He is older and probably has a difficult time staying on top of things. However, it is a problem. The way he described our sweet girl is completely out of character. It saddens me to think of how our dogs might have been treated there. We travel pretty often and our dogs almost always stay behind and are well loved on and have the best time. This is our first bad experience ever.

I know my dog felt very comfortable at Jim’s place. We did a meet and greet and she was immediately comfortable. He let her on the furniture whenever she wanted and gave her treats as I asked. I did not have to worry about chai at all while she was with Jim! I did have to initiate updates from him but overall no complaints! I would book with Jim again.
