Your Go-To Gal for Pet Care!

Pet care experience

Upbeat, fun, flexible, & very reliable pet lover is at your service (& your pets). I am a social work student and work in social services, but my schedule is flexible for animal care. My classes are mostly remote and my human clients are a mix of in-person and remote caseloads. That being said, I will change my rates for those needing a constant care schedule- this is defined as animal clients who cannot be alone for more than 2-4 hours at a time, and will be an extra charge. My books are always open for clients who can be alone for about 4-8 hours at a time unless previously booked and discussed (due to work, walks/drop-ins, private clients, and personal errands). Thank you for your cooperation as my business and schedule continues to grow & change! I would also like to add that I will be moving back home to Chicago at the end of August, but I am available for bookings through July. If you are a new-to-me client and looking for a longer term working relationship, I understand. To all of my current clients, I am so thankful for being in you and your pets lives the last 7 years here in Seattle. That being said, I am still here until August and hope to say goodbye and see ya later to everyone! Due to COVID-19, I take the utmost precaution for not only myself but the pets and households I am in contact with, for the health & safety of our community. I was already in the habit of keeping lots of hand sanitizer on deck, washing hands, and maintaining a level of cleanliness for personal health reasons (I have celiac and some non-animal allergies, so cleanliness keeps me healthy to begin with!), but this has been expanded due to the pandemic. I mostly do work/school remotely, but also now see human clients in person, with screening measures. I am fully vaccinated, and still follow guidelines as outlined by the CDC. I work with mostly vulnerable human populations, so I would like to keep them as safe as possible. When doing walks, overnights, & drop ins, I am detail-oriented, attentive, and affectionate to an appropriate level for your dog's individual personality & routine. I excel with animals who need a bit more attention and lovin'- anxious animals are my specialty! I have a soft spot for rescues. I like to create a feeling of safety and security, especially in your absence. I dig a routine and I know that more 'sensitive' creatures do too- its comforting and feels safe, so don't be afraid to load me up on the details of your pets day to day life with you, to allow me to replicate that as close as possible. I have a lot of experience in caring for dogs, cats, and other animals. I have been doing overnights & dog walks/cat sits for about 14 years total now, outside of the animals within my house/within my personal care. I had previously been dog & cat sitting for friends and neighbors in Chicago (where I'm from), & now here in Seattle. The majority of my clients are private clients, referrals from friends or word of mouth, and a lot of tags in local neighborhood Facebook groups. I do try to keep my calendar up to date with my private client bookings, but please inquire about any dates- my availability can sometimes be changing with changing flights/details, so feel free to ask! I have experience with smaller dog breeds such as chihuahuas and dachshunds, to bigger breeds like German shepherds, greyhounds, golden retrievers, labs, and pit bulls, mastiffs- you name it, I've probably taken care of it. Most recently I cared for a husky/malamute mix and he was the biggest pup! I can handle all sizes with ease, as I am myself a fairly tall, large human myself. I grew up around all sorts of animals, but since moving from my home city of Chicago about 6 years ago, I've been living in apartments that have not allowed for any dogs of my own. It's been a bit weird living in a dog-less household, but pet care for others has really helped to fill this void. Prior to moving, I have shared responsibilities and ownership (as an adult) of a few different breeds/temperaments of cats, & a chihuahua, pit bull, and a Doberman, specifically over the past 15 years. As a child/teenager, we had a cat (who happily lived to be 21 years old), a goldfish (who lived to be 12!), and a hedgehog. I also have experience with other kinds of pets, including chickens, turtles, guinea pigs, hamsters, and fish- back home I had even 'fostered' a friend's tarantula for 2 years while she traveled extensively. I can feed and keep an eye on any other animals if they are in the home, including backyard chickens and feral friends! I'm not very skittish and love meeting new pets of any kind! They ALL seem to easily warm up to me, which is a great added bonus. I can administer most medications including insulin, eye/nose drops, pills, and creams for both dogs and cats, and have been certified in animal first aid and CPR. I have a car so I can be booked last minute if needed/my schedule allows and if I have the times available. I am located in North Seattle, and I work out of a facility in Lake City, although my human and animal clients are all over. I have clients from Shoreline to Des Moines and prefer to cluster book by area- Rover lists Cedar Park, but I currently live in Lake City. In terms of locations, I am flexible, depending on what is on my personal or overnight schedule already. Please feel free to inquire if you're a bit outside my regular service area, as I may be available in an area depending on my schedule. If you have multiple pets and are looking for a more affordable rate, I am open to that discussion as well, especially if you are a neighbor/very close distance to my house or work sites. I require a meet and greet before any sitting, walk, or drop-in booking, and we can discuss care and routine. Feel free to message me and we can go from there. During my stay, if your pet likes short trips (and car rides!), we can explore other parks and (dog) parks beyond the immediate neighborhood. If your pet is more of a laid-back type, we can cuddle and chill at home, and as always, walk & play on-site! Outside of school, I do dance classes and I'm always looking to squeeze in time for movement- playing with pets is beneficial to us both, as I'm not content sitting for long periods of time. I am a large-bodied individual but I get my steps in and can adjust my activity level to that of your pets. I love getting to know each and every individual animal's personality, as well as the expectations and connections from each family/pet owner community. Inclusiveness and safety are big priorities for me when it comes to clients & pets. Allowing someone into your home to care for your pet in your absence is a big deal, even if it is 'just' a walk. That trust & responsibility is not lost on me, despite it being easily arranged through an app. Please feel free to message me with any questions. I look forward to it!

Jillian was great! We received a lot of pictures, she gave our dog his medicine, and our house was in perfect order when we returned.

Jillian is the best! She takes care of our two pups while we travel and does an excellent job updating us with daily pictures and messages. We always come home to a tidy house and happy doggos! Would recommend Jillian’s house sitting service to anyone!

Jillian was wonderful with our senior cat and nervous/barky dog. She sent updates and cute pics daily. Our pets were happy and healthy and our house was in great shape when we came home. Jillian is very easy to work with and I'd highly recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter.

Jillian has been caring for our pets for years, and is amazing. Our dog and elder cat are medically complicated and high maintenance and I always know and trust they’ll be so well cared for when she stays with them! If you can book her; do it!!

I try to adhere as closely as possible to their routine & schedule with you, while you are gone. I only do house sitting in the client's home, as per my lease would not allow any in-home boarding or daycare where I live.

Information Jillian A. would like to know about your pet

I really like knowing the specific personality of your furry friend- likes, dislikes, favorite ways to cuddle and play- tell me all of it! I would also really appreciate it if you tell me or show me the specific words/phrasing and gestures you use with your pets. I like consistency and structure and will continue the training and commands you have already established. Personally, I do really love rescues, especially pit bulls, but I really just love all dogs and cats, critters of all kinds- and chickens! I've had the pleasure of taking care of a few flocks of backyard chickens since living in Seattle, and I love them. I don't have any breed preferences or restrictions, but I prefer to stick with dogs over a year/a year and a half, depending on the personality, but would accept younger on a case-by-case basis. I really like meet and greets to get more information about you and your pet, and see if the personalities mesh well together. You are the expert on your pet, so let me see what you do, how you do it, and what your expectations are for me.

A typical day

I cannot board in my own home, but I'm available for overnights in yours! One of my most favorite dogs to care for is a pitty who could play catch for hours- she loves her ball! No interest in walks, but is down for cuddling and playing with that same ball for hours- I love how that is her specific personality, and we both know our usual fun routine when I'm over! If your dog has a particular activity or toy that they love the most, I am here for it! I love walks, exploring neighborhoods, or even just cuddling up on the couch or in bed (if allowed). A lot of my current clients are big love bugs, but I love energetic dogs too. My favorite thing to see is a smiling, tuckered-out pup, from hanging out with me on a long walk or playing around with their favorite toys or activities. Please leave as detailed as possible instructions so I can replicate their usual routines with you, as much as possible.

I currently go to school full-time and work part-time with a hybrid (online & in-person) schedule. While house sitting, I will be away at some point Mon-Fri during the regular week, during regular "business" hours. I'll let you know my set work/school schedule at the meet & greet or via messaging, but it does allow flexibility for animal care. Please note, if your critter cannot be left alone for more than 2-4 hours at a time, I will be adding on a constant care charge unless previously discussed, or I may need to pass on the booking.
