Stay at home dog lover!!

Pet care experience

I am a dog lover, I've had dogs all my life. For 11.5 years I had a rescued greyhound. He was such a joy to have. He passed away 2 weeks before Christmas 2014 at 14.5 years old. It was so hard to be without him and that is why I decided to become a Rover sitter. I have really enjoyed the company of my Rover dogs. I have a fully fenced in yard, a chain outer fence and a taller privacy fence. My dog was my baby, he had full use of the house and so will yours. I will care for your dog like they are my own. I am very responsible, am a non smoker, and work from home so will be with your dog almost all day. I allow my dog on the couch, but if you do not want them on the couch I do have dog beds and will respect all your requests to keep your dogs routine the same as it is at your home. I will follow your rules and guidelines regarding food and treats as well. I will try to keep your dogs schedule as close to what they are used to with you. I will walk your dog around my sub if that is what they need, send pics and messages often. I know how hard it can be to leave your pet in someones hands. For many this is the first time that they are leaving their dog with someone other than family. I understand that can be difficult. Your dog is a guest in my home and I would not correct their behaviors or punish them while in my care. They are away from those they know and love and I will give them plenty of attention. I will spoil them with love and playtime. I will not put them up in a crate (unless you request that) and they will have full reign of my house. I will pay full attention to them while they are here. I know how important they are to you and I take pride in caring for them. I have left my dog with family and friends while on vacation. Getting daily updates always made me feel better. You will have my phone number to call anytime if you need to or if you just want to let your kids say goodnight:) My previous dog was on medication for arthritis. I am very comfortable caring for elderly dogs and administering medication. This is something I am very used to. I usually only take one dog at a time (or multiple dogs from the same house) unless both owners agree and the dogs get along. I would never take on a dog after your dogs stay has started unless you have previously approved. I do this for the companionship and love of dogs. When I do have dogs from multiple families I never leave them alone together and watch them at all times. DROP IN VISITS I do offer drop in visits on a limited basis. I will do drop in visits for those going on vacation but not as a full time service. I will be happy to drop in and care for your cats, dogs, fish, turtles, etc... This is a 30 minute visit to feed and play with your pet. I will let them out, clean the litter or bowl when needed. I personally have my own aquatic turtle, he is about 15 years old. This service is great for cats and other indoor pets. even some small dogs who use potty pads and for short weekend trips. Meet my pets I have one dog named Tegan. She is a 5 year old retired greyhound. I rescued her in August 2015 and she loves everyone. She is a little shy at first but warms up quickly. She has loved the Rover dogs she has met. And by the end of their stay they are usually best friends! I love all dogs and breeds but have learned that my dog does not do well with Boxers. She is nervous of their high energy and I have had to turn down all stays with Boxers. Or any large dog that jumps on her too much (tries to hump and won't stop). I do ask for a meet and greet in my home before you decide to leave your dog with me. I want you and your dog to be comfortable with me, my dog Tegan, and my house. I require your dog to be house broken and easy for me to handle, no destructive behaviors. I live a quiet life and am home nights and weekends when watching your dog. Your dog will not be left alone long during their time with me. When I do need to leave for the grocery store, gym, or church, they will only be alone for up to 2 hours at the most and not daily (gym 3 days a week and church on Saturdays). I live alone so the house will be calm. I am very comfortable with dogs of all ages, and sizes. I can only take large/strong dogs that are well mannered. I must be able to control them. I had spinal surgery and can not take dogs that are stronger than I am:) Why I love dog sitting I have been around dogs all my life. We had a German Shepard when I was a little girl, then a Collie mix. When I bought my first house I rescued my first dog. A wonderful male greyhound. I missed having a dog in the house and love being able to care for my Rover dogs. Being a Rover sitter has been so amazing for me. I get to spoil your dog while you are away. You can rest easy knowing they will be taken care of the way you would take care of them. I pledge to donate 10% of my profits to a local rescue group called the Last Day Dog Rescue. About my yard I have a large, very grassy, backyard that is fully fenced in. An outer chain fence and a taller privacy fence. My gate will always be locked. My experience administering medication I am very comfortable administering medication. My dog took different medications at different times of the day. I know how important this is for their health and well being. I have also administered injection medication and am very comfortable doing that.

We just finished our first experience with Rover and Jill watched our two dogs for a week. Well watched isn’t quite the right word. Cuddled, played and showered with attention is more accurate. Jill kept in contact with pictures and updates every day which made us enjoy our vacation even more. When we picked them up they didn’t want to leave because they had such a great time. We couldn’t be happier and will absolutely ask Jill to watch our babies again!

I'm so glad we found Jill- our puppy Winston seemed immediately comfortable with her and her sweet greyhound at our meet and greet. When he stayed with her, Jill's pictures and updates about his day set us at ease. It is stressful to find someone to care for your fur-babies, but now that we have found Jill we won't be so anxious about taking trips where we have to leave him behind. He loved her! We will be planning our trips around her schedule! :)

Information Jill H. would like to know about your pet

while I love all breeds, I have found that my dog does not do well with boxers. They have a high energy that she is nervous about, so I can not watch that breed. For all other breeds I would only need to know your dogs behaviors and routines to keep them happy while staying with me. I do ask that your dog is housebroken and does not have any destructive behaviors.

A typical day

I live in a sub and would take your dog for walks everyday around my safe sub. I also have a large fenced in backyard to play with your dog in. And if they like to shop I would love to take them to Partridge Creek with my dog Tegan. It is her favorite place to go for walks. Your dogs sleeping arrangements - I want your dog to feel right at home if he/she is used to sleeping in a crate, or on the couch it would be great. I can no longer let dogs sleep in bed with me because it hurts my back to allow that. Dogs tend to sleep very close or touching you, and I find that I do not sleep all night when a dog is in my bed and get up in pain. If you have a dog that will only sleep in your bed then I may not be the best sitter for you. Time I'll spend with your dog I work from home, so I plan on spending the entire day with your dog.
