Welcome to The Farmhouse Retreat! We are a husband and wife team with 40 years combined experience with dogs of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments. I have 9 years of experience as both a pet sitter and the primary caregiver for my dogs, including seniors, puppies, and special needs dogs. My husband, Bill, works outside of our home, but will be joining us for playtime and cuddles when he is home. One or both of us will be home with your pet at all times, providing 24-7 supervision for our guests. Your pups will never be left alone! Our historic farm house is centrally located in the Town of Lexington, and is close to I20. We are licensed for business with the town. Our fenced yards, shaded porch, and house are dog safe, and we have no cats, small animals, or children in our home. We currently have only one dog in our family, a neutered Australian Cattle Dog, so we have plenty of time, attention, space, and love to share with yours! The Farmhouse Retreat Services and Booking Policy: *Dog Boarding (overnight accommodations in our home): 24 hours *Doggy Daycare (in our home): up to 12 hours The pick-up time for a reservation is based off of the drop-off time, and the above time limits for each type of service. Please consider your approximate drop-off and pick-up times for your reservation when booking. If additional time needs to be added on, please let me know. An additional day of daycare can be added to cover extra time. We keep up to four guest dogs at a time, for both overnight stays and daycare combined. We keep our availability to this maximum to ensure that we provide adequate individual attention and love for each pup. If your dog has any special needs (or requests), I am happy to work with you to provide the perfect stay for your furbaby! We've used Jessica several times to watch our 8 month old Great Pryenees puppy, both for daycare and overnight stays and have been extremely pleased. We can tell Jessica cares for and loves the dogs she watches - our puppy comes home exactly as we left her; happy, content, rested and loved. You can't ask for more than that!!
From the moment we dropped off our Maggie, we felt very comfortable leaving her with Jessica. She was very accommodating to any requests we had, and Maggie had a great time.
Jessica was great with my two Bassett. Will take them there again
Jessica was friendly, flexible, quick to respond, and seemed to get along great with our dog, Jax. He was very comfortable at her home and was able to play with some other dogs in her fenced-in yard. We got frequent updates and pictures from Jessica during his stay. Jessica was very accommodating with our last minute trip and we will definitely bring Jackson back to the Farmhouse again in the future.

Our primary concern is the safety and comfort of all of our guests. Based on our experience, we have a found these specifications to be important to the wellbeing of your furbabies: *We cannot accommodate dogs who are aggressive towards people and/or other dogs. *All guest pups must be spayed or neutered, without exception. *We require all of our guest pups to be current on all vaccines. Please bring a copy of your pet’s records at drop off, or email them to me prior. *We love puppies! However, for their health and safety, we cannot accommodate baby puppies who are not yet fully vaccinated (under 4 months). *We recommend our guest pups to be currently treated for flea and tick prevention. *Drop-off and pick-up times are by appointment only, and between the hours of 6:00am-8:00pm. Please bring their crate (if they are crate trained) and/or dog bed, their usual food, and any oral/topical medications for their stay with us. You are welcome to bring any favorite toys and treats. We would love to be familiar with your dogs' usual routine, any commands they are used to, and anything else that makes them special! Please remember to either email or bring vaccination records at drop off. Feel free to talk to me about specifics, or to ask any questions. We want your baby (and you) to be as comfortable as possible while in our care!
A typical day
We have a large partly-shaded fenced back yard, and a separate fenced front yard that leads to our enclosed front porch. Your dogs can romp, play, and fetch their favorite toys (supervised) in the back yard, or have their own personal space in the adjacent front yard. Other than outdoor playtime, our guests spend the majority of their stay with us inside. They have access to most of our single story home, sectioned by baby gates when necessary. They will enjoy relaxing with us on our couches, lazy boy, and bed (if allowed on furniture at home). I look forward to providing you with daily photos of your baby having fun!
