Pet care experience
Nice to meet you! My name is Jess, and I am a puppy fanatic. I am currently studying Cognitive Science at UC Berkeley with an emphasis in animal behavior and learning (plus a minor in Education). My dream is to breed, raise, and train puppies to become Therapy Dogs for Special Education classrooms. I have been working towards getting a certificate in dog training and have already finished the Karen Pryor Clicker Training course this summer. I grew up my entire life with dogs, 5 Labradors, 4 Mastiffs, and one dachshund mix. I t has been so lonely at college without a furry friend, so let me borrow yours! I have the confidence, compassion, and experience required to be a responsible caretaker of an important part of your family - your dog!

Jessica was amazing with our dog, Chelita. She was incredibly responsive from beginning to end. Chelita can be tough with new folks, but Jessica was patient and calm, and Chelita warmed up to her almost immediately. Jessica sent photos and checked in, and left the house well-tended. All in all, she was wonderful and we'd absolutely have her stay with Chelita again!

Jessica checked in on my cat while I was away and did a great job taking care of him! Although my cat was shy and didn't interact much, Jessica could tell that he was eating and in good health which put my mind at ease. She sent me daily messages which I really appreciated and everything seemed to go very smoothly. Thus, I highly recommend Jessica for cat care! :)
Jessica stayed for a night with Bella, who is sweet but has a few particular leash troubles and can be a handful. But right away, Jessica calmed our nerves using this site for the first time -- and, also having our dog stay with a stranger for the first time! -- and she even sent us photos. She was great. Highly recommended.

I will not be turned off by a dog with problems, so please do not be worried about notifying me of any behavioral issues the dog may have ahead of time. The best way to create a positive relationship with your pup is if I have as much information about the dog as possible ahead of time. If your dog is leash reactive or dog aggressive, please let me know so I can be extra vigilant during our journey through the neighborhood.
A typical day
Because I have experience with reactive dogs, I have the tools needed to avoid conflict on walks (something many dogs have issues with). Every journey I will take your dog on will be safe, comfortable, and keep your dog as happy as can be. I do have experience with positive reinforcement based clicker training methods, so our walks will be filled with positive reinforcement to provide mental and physical exercise. On the other hand, I am perfect willing to accompany your older pup on a short, slow stroll with lots of much needed flower sniffing.
