Currently my time is split between being a stay-at-hone mom for my 3 year old and running the rescue. But with recently having had kiddo #2 (May 12th), I have switched from doing full time work to only doing walks and teaching part time so that my kids can join me. I have worked in the rescue world for about two decades. And I've been working with animals in general for just as long. I started working at Frisky's Wildlife and Primate Sanctuary and then I worked for the Department of Natural Resources. After that I was in retail at various pet stores. For several years I also was a manager at a local doggie day camp, boarding, training and grooming facility. I have extensive experience in most every aspect of animal care including CPR, first aid and vet tech basics. We own our home here in Elkridge and it includes many acres. Many of which we spent extensive money on to fence in. Sharing the land we have a small hobby/rescue farm with horses, sheep, chicken, peacocks and even a sweet potbelly pig. I own 2 border collies and one cat. So my kids are very used to animals. He's "assisted" me with many pet sittings and dog walkings. He prefers the smaller dogs of course that can't drag him along. But as long as the animals are kid friendly, it's fine and he loves learning how to walk them. He's been around dogs of every size. Our neighbors own a Newfoundland that he adores and we watch as needed. We have a separate pet room just for overnight guests, including crates/cages as needed.
