I speak to my dogs and treat them like family, cause they are to me. I know they communicate with me too, it is all in the nonverbal (and sometime very verbal) cues. I grew up with GSDs, and as an adult have enjoyed having 2 -3 dogs in my home - at the same time. Currently have a 4 lb Pom and a 18 lb Bichon Frise, we walk around the lake most days, and they are very well loved. I love dogs, and they love me.
