The Pet Next Door! 🐶🐱

Pet care experience

I have always had a love for animals of all types. I have always rescued strays, helped find owners and have had many many pets of my own. I worked as a veterinary technician in general practice animal hospitals for approximately 8 years and I have been doing pet sitting for over 15+ years. I love all animals and enjoy spending time with animals and treat them as if they were my own. I am available for dog sitting, cat visits, overnight stays in my home and more. I can make trips to your home for visits or have your dog or cat stay in my home. As I am currently dealing with medical treatments and chemotherapy in most cases at this time I prefer watching pets in my home rather than visits in other homes, but each situation may vary based on location/times/needs of the visits Etc. I have one small dog (Chihuahua), one large dog (hound/Dalmatian mix) and two cats who all get along well and have free roam of the house. Our dogs can play together (or lounge together) and when not playing they can lay around on the couch, on any of our many pet beds or outside. We have a huge backyard for playtime, potty breaks and laying in the sun and enjoying the beautiful Florida weather. What your specific needs are is how the stay will go. Multiple walks or just relaxing around the house. Each visit is accustomed to your pets needs. Prices will vary based on needs. Most importantly, your pet will get lots of love and affection! When not working we spend most of our time at home, which allows for lots of playtime and snuggles with the pets. Animals aren’t left alone for long periods of time as my spouse or I are usually home within hours or so of one another. I do prefer to crate or keep pets isolated in our spare room until I know pet is safe alone in the home and with other pets. I am happy to accommodate your pets needs so that he or she will be happy through their stay, whether administering meds, giving baths, trimming nails (if they are a cooperative one!) And whatever treats and meals they desire I can whip up for them! We also have two cats living at our house, so your dog must be comfortable around cats and vice versa for cats with dogs. To reiterate and for transparency, for safety purposes, when no one is home we usually keep dogs in a large crate to ensure no eating funny things, no feisty play with other animals, and no accidents can happen while no one is watching them!! Cats will be kept in our spare room Or a large kennel in their own safe space for the same reasons. Generally we have no issues, but with animals and things happen. I am qualified to react appropriately in any given situation and contact you immediately. And your pets will be in good hands! We will always seek emergency care if needed. I look forward to having your baby in my home, or visiting yours! About this sitter: My entire life I have had pets of my own, worked various jobs in doggy day cares, veterinary clinics, and lots of pet sitting. I am affectionate and playful with all pets and love physical activities, so long walks are guaranteed if that's what your kid likes. I am happy to sit and pet your dog, throw the ball around, or just walk (or run!) around the neighborhood! I can also take him or her to a dog park if you request (But avoid otherwise as these are “high risk zones” and dog fights do happen as well as contagious parasites, etc), But there will be plenty of fun to be had at my home or yours as well. In my daily life, I enjoy working out, eating healthy, reading, writing, yoga, being with friends, and watching tv/movies. I love all types of animals and my passion for activism and caring for the earth moves me to pursue what's right in this world. I enjoy being active and living life to the fullest! I look forward to building relationships with you and your pets! Have a great day! Thanks for taking the time to stop by and I look forward to meeting you and your pet!! Facebook: Jessica Bournias Pet sitting Facebook page: @ The Pet Next Door Why I love dog sitting I have been a dog lover since ALWAYS. My family always had dogs and I have always been obsessed! As I grew up I wanted to be a veterinarian, and had all types of animals over the years. I would always try to feed or "save" all the dogs when visiting other places on vacation. In fact, in Greece I had a few dogs following me around the city because I kept feeding them all. I also have rescued many animals off the streets including a baby owl! I am drawn to animals and I just love them! Meet my pets 2 Dogs and 2 Cats :) currently ;) About my yard I have a very large fenced in backyard And enclosed patio for free roam and playtime! (cats do not leave the patio or the inside of home depending on your wishes. Cats will never be outside) My experience administering medication As a vet tech I learned the skills and am very comfortable administering medications, as long as there are detailed instructions and information for your pets needs, and they are cooperative. I can also give fluids, eye drops, ear meds, etc. Other various needs can be discussed.

Jessica did a great job watching Bella. This was our first time using a dog sitter since relocating to Florida, and we don't travel to much with out Bella so we were a bit anxious in leaving her with someone. Jessica came over a few times to meet Bella and they hit it off..Bella felt totally comfortable with her. Jessica gave Bella tons of attention and plenty of time outside to roam around and she sent us pictures. We had Jessica stay over at our home and it worked out great, no issues. We definitely recommend Jessica..professional, courteous and knowledgeable.

If you are looking for the ultimate dog walking, house sitting extraordinaire- look no further than Jess B! She stayed at our home in South Florida with our 2 pups over the long holiday weekend and provided such great care for our little guys! She sent updates and pictures every day letting us know Walter and Cosmo were doing great. It was such a relief to find Jessica. She is trustworthy, efficient, communicative and most importantly, a great caretaker! I highly recommend Jessica!

I like to have owners give me their ideal for visits depending on the type of visit and I do my utmost to provide that. I like owners to write up meal notes, medications/treatments, pets preferences, things pets are sensitive to, what they like or don’t like. Example, do they like or dislike things like belly scratches, are they sometimes anxious, or food aggressive, do they suddenly try to escape when a door opens, etc. Each animal is different so the more I know the better I can be prepared to make their stay the best possible. In full disclosure I do generally crate new pets when no one is in the home. This is for everyone’s safety, your pets and ours. They are in an unknown space and it’s good for pets to have a safe space that’s their own when in a new home. I use an extra large crate where they have ample space to feel comfortable in. We do backyard potty breaks through out each day and I can take your dog on walks if you prefer. We can always do a meet and greet so you can see my home and our pets. Currently we have 2 cats and 2 dogs. One 40 lb Dalmatian hound mix and 1 little old chihuahua. They get rambunctious at first as pets do when new people and pets come to the house but once they all settle they are a very kind and playful group of pets.

Information Jessica B. would like to know about your pet

I do not care much about the breed of the dog, as long as they are not people or animal aggressive! I like to get a thorough history from the owner as well as their veterinary info. I have some paper work for clients to fill out with all the major info. Most important: I need to know any medical conditions or medications/treatments or special needs etc. I would love to know about their personality as well. When scared or happy, how do they behave? Any common reactions they have to things is good to know because until I get to know the dog I won't know what's "Normal." And then over time I will be able know his personality better. Also just what does he like/not like, any fears/triggers/anxiety (storm phobia, a runner, fence jumper, eats things while on walks, etc)

A typical day

Our home is basically an animal sanctuary as they rule the house. Lots of pet beds, toys, cat trees, and we do allow them on our couches etc. My neighborhood is perfect with sidewalks and trees great for dog walking and there are also nice walking parks nearby. We can also walk on the beach if you're dog enjoys extra long walks. Just let me know what you prefer and I will do my best to accommodate. Your dog's sleeping arrangement We set them up with the large crate so they have a bed and blankets and water so they have their own space in our home. Usually we would create them at night for their safety or if an adult is not home, but as we get to know them that can vary. We do allow pets on couches so they have options to lounge on those or the various pet bed throughout the home. Of course, you may bring your own bedding if you prefer. We only like to mention it’s best if it’s machine washable in case we need to run it through the wash. Time I'll spend with your dog If staying with us at our home then I will be with your dog and ours throughout the day for the most part. Between myself and my spouse they are never alone more than a few hours unless it’s a special event or holiday. If I am doing an in your home visit or dog walk I will be with your dog throughout the entire visit! Time I'll spend with your dog I believe it is depending on their needs as each pet can vary greatly. Some pets need not much attention or they may need much more playtime. You can give me that info for what I can expect for your pets needs. If I am doing a dog walk we would go for a 15 minutes walk and then an additional 15 minutes in the home filling water and food and giving affection. Some dogs need more activity in which case we can go for an hour walk or a trip to the dog park could take a few hours. It is certainly up to the doggy and the owner of how much play time is needed. Extra house-sitting services Sure I can. All of that can be discussed beforehand.

Currently most of my days are spent hanging around the house with our pets and caring for them, and those that we pet sit. My 2 dogs go in and out all day long to the fenced back yard and enjoying sunning in the grass. Our two cats usually hang around the screened patio and around the house. We have tons of pet beds and toys throughout the home. When I’m not home Im usually doing pet sitting jobs, working out, going to medical appointments, doing delivery service side jobs and other general activities that vary day by day.
