About Jessica B.:

I have extensive experience working with dogs of all shapes and sizes in professional kennels, and have fostered dogs, including a Great Dane mix and other large dogs. Dogs are my passion and it shows. I volunteer with the Maxfund Shelter (a no-kill shelter, hooray!) in Denver and often care for dogs who live in my neighborhood. My house is cozy, clean, and I have a big sunny backyard where your pup can play and lounge! Your dog will get frequent walks throughout the day (I'll even take him/her on my morning jogs or on trips to the local dog park if you so desire!), and plenty of loving. I'll care for your pup just like it was my own! -Jess.

Please ask about my new customer discount ($25 off your first stay over $100)! I also offer a 10% discount for referrals-- 10% off your next stay, and 10% off for the friend or family member you refer to me...I love my regulars! :-)

How long have you been a dog lover? Tell us about your history with dogs.

I grew up with two rambunctious Weimaraners and fell head-over-heels for dogs from the very start. I went on to own my own Great Dane-Pointer mix, a whiz kid named Jack, who sadly passed away before his time. Having worked in kennels for many years, dogs were my life- my friends call me the Dog Whisperer- but I wasn't ready to get another one of my own. A friend suggested I start dogsitting just to have dogs around again, and I fell in love with it, and it eventually grew into a business. I'm so fortunate to be able to spend so much time with these wonderful creatures!

What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences?

Just let me know whether your pup gets along with other dogs, as well as whether he/she gets along with cats, since sometimes we will encounter the occasional cat on our neighborhood walk. I also need to know about any medical problems, allergies, or behavioral problems, and whether your dog will want to go with me on my morning run and to the dog park. I do live in a quiet neighborhood so if your pup barks for long periods of time when left alone for a few hours, we probably won't be a good fit for each other-- please let me know if this will be an issue before we book a stay.

Are you comfortable administering medication?

Having had professional experience at several kennels, I am perfectly comfortable with administering medication, CPR in case of an emergency, and all minor grooming.

How much time do you plan on spending with my dog each day?

Since I am a freelance writer and comic artist, I am home for the entire day most days so your dog will have plenty of companionship throughout the day.

If you have a backyard, please describe it.

I have a big fenced backyard with a patio that I often sit out on and write while the dogs play. I never leave them unattended in the yard, although it is very secure.

Where will my dog sleep?

Your dog will generally sleep on his/her bed brought from home, although dogs are welcome on my bed and couch if they're allowed on furniture at home.

Where will you take my dog on walks? Tell me about it.

The pups who stay with me get taken on a 1-5 mile run every morning (depending on ability and desire), an afternoon trip to the local dog park, and 2-3 additional walks throughout the day in my beautiful neighborhood in the Highlands-- plenty of activity to keep a dog happy!

Jessica took care of our senior dog last week. He is pretty slow moving and gets medication twice a day with his food. She did a good job making sure he took his pills and kept us updated on his stay.

Max went back to Jessica for the 2nd time. He absolutely loves spending time with her. He came back refreshed, content and did not say one peep on our drive home. He just seemed happy!

Other than some miscommunication about the drop off time, I was satisfied with my pups second stay with Jessica. It's obvious they love hanging out with her, and were very comfortable in her house during this second stay.

John, I would have loved to have discussed the problems you had with this stay in person when I dropped off Oskar- you gave me no indication at that time you were unhappy or unsatisfied, and I would have loved to have resolved these issues with you one-on-one. While the issues with the initial dropoff were mine (my phone had died due to a charger failure, and thus why your messages didn't go through), our original agreement was for you to pick Oskar up at 6 PM, and you came back early, changing the time. I was as flexible as I could be considering the time change, and I hope that you'll remember that I brought Oskar to your house instead of you having to pick him up, a service I usually charge a fee for, for free. We discussed in our initial meet-and-greet that I would need to leave for an hour in the middle of the day to do my dog-walking rounds, which is what I did, but even then, Oskar was never alone in the house. Oskar and I went for a 3 mile run about 30 minutes after he was dropped off, as I had previously promised. I imagine the ink marks were from a pen that Oskar pulled off the counter and chewed while I was in the bathroom. Considering my usual breed restrictions (no Weimaraners due to chewing tendencies), I think perhaps we may not be a good match. I am sorry that you feel you didn't receive the level of service you were looking for, and I appreciate your feedback. I wish you and Oskar luck with whichever of Rover's stellar sitters you choose in the future!

Jessica watched Franz for a weekend while we were away. She was very prompt with her response and always accessible via phone/text. Franz seemed happy at her house and came home tired which told me she kept him active and on lots of walks.

Jessica backed out from a meetinng with me and my dog at the last minute via email without a phone call. Very unreliable. I would not trust my dog to someone that cannot keep an appointment.

Jessica has an excellent reputation in the community for dog sitting, and we were not disappointed. She was prompt, professional, and most importantly, she did a great job caring for our dog Karma. We will certainly call her again. --Keith Facchin

Jessica took great care of our 2 small yorkies while we were away for almost 2 weeks. She constantly sent us messages, texts and pictures to let us know how they were doing. It's such a relief to have her caring for our babies. We highly recommend her!
