She did an awesome job and far exceeded our expectations. Would recommend in a heartbeat.
Jessie watched our two dogs for a full week while we were on vacation. During that time she provided updates and photos so we could rest easy that they were doing well. They seemed to take to her quickly as they were stuck to her like glue while she was there! In addition, Jessie left our home in better shape than when she arrived, doing a number of things around the house that we definitely ...
This is the first time using Jesse and she far exceeded our expectations! We usually have family or friends watch our dog if needed but since we just recently moved to the Madison area, we no longer have that option. Our dog has some special training needs so we are very picky when it comes to finding a dog sitter. We came across Jesse’s profile on Rover and felt confident she would be a ...
26+ yrs dogs/cats/horses/aggressive
I have been house/pet/horse/farm sitting for over 26 years. (I’m 42) From cats, dogs, rabbits, horses, birds, chickens, goats, horse-breeding facilities, and clients with over 20 animals, I’ve done it. I am great with and love all animals-young to very old. I have a lot of experience with dog-aggressive and human aggressive/untrusting dogs, and handling difficult horse & animal situations. I’m very comfortable taking care of special needs ...
What Jesse would like to know about your dog
All breeds are welcome. I would like to know the health of your pets/issues, vet information, all emergency contacts available, what NOT to do, the animal(s) personality, your list of requests & rules, but most importantly, what your pet loves to do the most!
I have been sitting & caring for animals & houses for over 26+ years & am new to Rover-I have always gone by word of mouth.
I do have my own emergency vet care release form in pdf format I would like to email you ASAP to be filled out before I sit. I send this form via email. I do require it to be filled out completely & signed before I begin taking care of your animal(s) for your, my & the vet’s peace of mind.
For dog walking clients, I require that we walk the dog(s) together so i can learn how you prefer your dog to behave on their walk & what type of leash & collar/harness you use.
I highly prefer collars or gentle leaders over harnesses, as harnesses were invented to help dogs “PUSH” their chest out/forward in a “pulling movement “ into the harness, thus the dog easily pulls you forward—just like a horse does with a carriage.
After training service dogs and dogs that pull, as well as puppies & dog school classes, I am really only used to using a leather leash to prevent rope burns on my hands & really dislike retractable leashes unless it’s for very small dogs. I always have my good ol’ trusty leather leash with me that I’ve had forever, which i bought in Germany over 16 years ago.
I do train “heel”, “wait”, “stop & sit” (before crossing the road). I also can train in German. Please let me know if you’d like me to teach your dogs this. I ONLY USE positive reinforcement. I’m not a believer in giving dogs “people food,” but I do use tiny hotdog pieces to get attention & for big rewards-for food-driven dogs if you approve.
I’m huge into taking all the time an animal needs for them to grasp concepts. I do not charge an extra fee for that, though I do require YOU buy the hotdogs or their other favorite treats & have them always available for all walks/training work.
