Pet care experience
Nice to meet you! I’m Jess, a pet sitter and walker with over a decade and a half of pet care experience. I’ve cared for dogs and cats (and many other species!) big and small and an comfortable and competent in the care of animals with a wide variety of temperaments and needs. I started pet sitting when I was just a teenager, caring for dogs and cats in my local area when their families were out of town or when their humans worked late. After a hiatus after college, I got back into pet care when my mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness and I knew I needed a more flexible lifestyle and a break from my old 9-5 office life to spend time with her. Now I spend my days caring for other people’s animal family the same way I care for my own. I walk and pet sit for a variety of pups and kitties throughout Chicago, providing a full range of services including walks/potty breaks, feeding, administering medication, light grooming, and even the occasional load of laundry. I love animals, I love people, and I love what I do!

I've known Jess for over 15 years and they are an amazing caregiver -- they've personally taken care of my dog, walking and playing with her as well as petsitting when I was away, as well as my cats and exotics (rats, hamster) at various times. While I've known them they've also walked and petsit for other companies and on their own and their clients always have glowing things to say about them! Dogs adore Jess and Jess is passionate about animal rights and animal care: you couldn't ask for a better walker or sitter.

I love all dogs, big and small. I’ve had great walks with tiny Pomeranians and massive Rottweilers and everyone in between! I do love to know ahead of time if a dog is a new family member, a rescue, or very nervous or territorial so I can assign them some extra time to get comfortable with a new person! Any health issues are also great to know - I don’t want to over exert a dog with heart or joint problems or under walk a pup who need to lose weight for their health. Any meds they need or allergies are great to know, and if they have a tendency to excitement pee so I know to hold off pets until they’re safely outside to relieve themselves.
A typical day
I love walking dogs based on their breed and energy level so we may simply walk a few blocks for an older pup who can’t handle a long walk or we might do a light job around an area park or along the beach. I often take dogs I walk on “architecture tours” or “art tours” because I love Chicago’s amazing local history and enjoy reporting back to pet parents which monuments and buildings their pups enjoyed.
