Does it mean that you have to know ASL to be able to communicate with me? Not necessarily! To communicate with me, we always can write in English back and forth on paper or through text! I'm also fluent in English. :) Qualifications and Credentials -Been on Rover since 2017 and known for providing consistent quality pet care -Insured and bonded through Pet Sitters Associates in 2022 -Recertificated in Pet First Aid and CPR from Pet Emergency Education in 2022 -Bacholer's in Veterinary Technology with a minor in Management -Fear Free Certified Professional Pet Sitter in 2022 -10+ years of experiences caring for a wide range of animals at animal shelters and veterinary clinics, and petsitting -Veterinary technician assistant skills relevant to petsitting: nail trimming, anal gland expression, dental brushing/giving dental treats, bathing, wrapping bandages, pilling, administering eye and/or ear medications, and administering insulin injections for diabetes, animal restraint/handling -Basic training involving voice commands/hand signals such as "come", "sit", "wait", "go there", etc. Rewards come in forms of treats and play -Reliable car transportation I have cared for exotics and small animals as well but to a lesser extent: snakes, fish, rabbits, chickens, pigeons, ducks, bearded dragons, etc. Plants and gardens deserve love too - I will water them with your permission and follow explicit instructions how to provide care for them. I'm most familiar with pothos and snake plants. When you are about to go away on a vacation or need a visit or two during the day, please feel free to contact me anytime! I respond fast and I will work with you to ensure your needs are meet whenever possible. Before I confirm a booking, we will have a meet and greet first so we can make sure I am the right fit for you and your furry family members! Just furry? What about fish, snakes, or something like that? No need. :) I still can come and meet them if you want to go over their routine. I'm here to make your life easier! :)

Safety, trust & environment

I believe in providing a calm, low stress environment where the animals can just chill as I provide for their daily needs and deliver medical care that's required while minimizing fear, anxiety, and/or stress, and enlisting their cooperation. I will follow their routines carefully as instructed and provide enrichment whenever possible. I respect their autonomy and will provide affection with their consent. I'll make sure the house is pet proof as a preventative measure so they won't get into trouble while being there or gone. I'll provide basic support to their training regimen so they can stay on track. I'll monitor their vital signs and behavioral signs to ensure they are okay throughout the day. 10% of my profits will go to American Society for Deaf Children to help support deaf children and ensure that they do not experience language deprivation. They do this by by teaching them ASL and connecting them with deaf mentors and peers. I think it is important because many deaf children are deprived of early language development due to not having access to deaf-friendly, visual languages like American Sign Language. Do you know that if a child does not develop and acquire language skills by the time they are 5, they will have difficulties developing sufficient language skills? It is because the first five years of life is critical for creating foundation skills for language development and acquisition. By the time they become 5, their brain will be 90% developed and synaptic pruning at this point will ensure that synapses for developing language will be severely weakened if they are not used frequently. Let's support them together and help contribute to a better world! :) Thank you for your time and consideration! Looking forward to hear from you soon! :) FAQs: Q: Can you read lips? A: It is the least effective mode of communication available to Deaf people. Only about 30-45% of the English language is discernible through lip reading, and the rest depends on guessing and contextualization. It can be a lot of work. Why chance the pet care on lip-reading? Your best bet is writing things down on paper or texting or having printed detailed instructions ready. That way, I have 100% access to information needed to provide quality pet care for your beloved. Thanks. Q: Do you accept requests in Tooele? A: I do not. Rover shows that Tooele is within my service area because I set the service area to 20 miles in radius, but there is no 20-mile path to Tooele. Please keep that in mind when seeking a pet sitter. I service most of the Salt Lake County area. More questions coming up soon. :)

Information Jenny J. would like to know about your pet

Detailed printed instructions work great. I'd like to know the dates and times when you will leave and come back so I can prepare for incoming petsitting stays. I'll need to know about their usual temperament, their usual routine, their medical needs, allergies, likes and dislikes, favorite treats, etc. I'll require a copy of a vaccination record to ensure they are up to date on vaccines. It would be helpful to know vet info, emergency contacts, and have signed medical consent forms in case anything happen to them. I must know whether the dog or cat is aggressive beforehand so I can prepare to handle them and not get injured in a meet and greet.

A typical day

For petsitting: I will bring in packages and mail, do light housecleaning, water plants if needed, and shovel on snowy days. I'd be happy to help out with whatever because I'm here to make your life easier! Within reason, of course. :) I will make sure your pet(s) get food, water, treats, walks if applicable, and plenty of play, enrichment, and love. I'm low key and low energy so I work best with seniors, small dogs, and cats. Low/medium energy big dogs work well too. A meet and greet will definitely determine our compatibility for that reason. I like to brush dogs and cats. I like to take naps, cuddle, and just chill/hang out with animals. If they are up to it, I will play with them in the yard. I play mean fetch in the backyard! :) In my spare time, I will study, play video games, read books, or watch movies. On lovely days, I'll walk the dogs around the block once or twice, up to 30 minutes. In extreme weather, walks will be kept up to 15 minutes. They will get water and treats after every walk. Large dogs and giants must be well-behaved, well-trained, and gentle on the leash because I'm a tiny woman. :) For drop in visits: I will make sure they have fresh food, fresh water, potty breaks, walks if applicable, play, and medical care if applicable before leaving the house safe and locked. A visit is usually 30 minutes each.

**UPDATE 01/04/24: I can do drop-in visits any time between 8am to 4pm, meaning that the first visit of the day can begin at 8am or later, and the last visit can start at 4pm or earlier but must end at 4:30pm. I only can do two visits per day. I require a week or two weeks notice in advance. Short notices will be considered case by case. For petsitting: I can check in and out any time before 4:30pm. It's non negotiable. Please plan accordingly. It would be nice if you let me know a month in advance but two weeks are okay. Short notices will be considered case by case. However, generally you will have better luck by asking a few weeks in advance. Thank you!!!** ** Petsitting only: In the mornings, I'll be gone to feed my cat and complete pet visits when applicable and then come back to stay with your pet most of the day and overnights. In the afternoons/early evenings, I will be gone to complete pet visits when applicable. I may do errands in between when applicable.
