Pet care experience

Hello! My name is Jenny and my husband James and I are massive animal lovers :) and experienced dog owners. We have two very sweet and social rescue dogs from Spain - lovely Maya - a former Spanish stray, and little Mika - saved from a killing station outside Valencia. Maya and Mika are exceptionally friendly, calm and gentle and get along with every dog. Both happily share everything - from food, toys and affection. :) You can be sure that we will treat your dogs exactly like we would like ours to be treated when we're away. :) You will receive tons of videos and pictures throughout the time we look after your pooch and will do our absolute upmost to ensure your dog feels comfortable, safe, loved and of course suuuuper happy at all times. :) If you are new to Rover, you can use this promo code and get £15 off! Or just register with a new email address and it will also work :D Promo Code: JENNYD251898 Since James and I are business owners we can adjust our day pretty much to our liking. We're both experienced dog owners (we've both grown up with them) and have been dog boarding for a few years now too. We've looked after many different dogs breeds, sizes and ages and you can be sure that your pooch won't be missing plenty of fuss, cuddles and walks. :) We live in fairly big house with a very secure garden with high fence - It's safe for our Podenca Mika who's an escape artist and is always trying to find a way out but no chance ;) . Nearby we have an enclosed dog park which is great for socialising and playing off-lead and then we also like to walk them in Hilly Fields, Ladywell Gardens and Greenwich nearby. WHICH DOGS CAN WE CARE FOR? 1) HOUSE TRAINED Please note that we can only welcome pooches that are 100% fully house trained (puppy pads are also not unacceptable). We will ensure we built in toilet breaks every 3-4 hours at least (except overnight of course). 2) FRIENDLY AND SOCIAL Please note we can only look after friendly and social dogs. Apart from our resident dogs, we take our dogs regularly to a nearby enclosed dog park where all pooches are free to run around safely and play with all other dogs. In addition, we usually also have other dogs on holidays with us and would like to keep the peace in our little pooch paradise. :) 3) BREEDS AND CHARACTER Our dogs are exceptionally friendly, calm and peaceful when new dogs enter the house. When we take care of puppies or little bundles of energy they tend to excuse themselves and go upstairs to bed as they prefer to just chill at home. :D So your dog has free reign to get all of our attention and love :) Dominant and very high energy breeds are not be a good fit with our dogs and lifestyle. In this case we definitely need to arrange a meet and greet and possibly also a trial day-care or overnight stay depending on how the meet and greet went. As dog-sitting isn't our main job we need to be able to get some work done without complete chaos at home. 4) NEUTERED MALE ADULTS / NO FEMALES IN HEAT While we can accept unspayed females who are not in heat, unfortunately we don't accept unneutered boys. Apart from that unneutered males may be too boisterous with other males or too amorous with females, we have noticed that they always tend to mark territory in our house. This is especially a big problem with males as they lift their leg and may pee on shoes, furniture, walls, etc. Even if your dog is fully house trained and has never done anything like this before it will be a different environment in our house where a lot of dogs go in and out and all the smells may trigger unwanted behaviour. In addition, we have also noticed that other male dogs (even if they are neutered) may treat unneutered boys as competition and may challenge them, or otherwise may display aggression in one way or the other. We want this to be a safe place for all dogs and because of all these experiences sadly we can't take the risk anymore and it's now a blanket "no" to unneutered boys, even to male puppies. :( 5) NOT TOO VOCAL DOGS As we live in a very quiet neighbourhood and also work from home unfortunately we cannot accommodate dogs who tend to bark or whine a lot, especially loudly :S (i. e. while playing, during the night or when they may need to stay home alone). We don't mind if they bark when the door bell rings or if there's some other reason to alarm us (i. e. like they may see cat or fox) but the noise level needs to be kept at a minimum otherwise. ;) If you have a dog that cannot stay alone at all, please verify with us that we can guarantee a 24h watch :) DAY CARE (Monday-Friday, excl bank holidays) For day care drop off is possible any time really :) Pick up however would ideally be some time between 8:00am and 18.30 as we sometimes see a show in the West End or go and see a concert. ;) Please double check with me beforehand if it's later than this as it can of course be possible. If you wanted to drop your dog quite a bit earlier or pick up later it would need to be an overnight stay. OVERNIGHT BOARDING (Monday-Sunday) For overnight boarding pick-up needs to be more or less around the time when your dog was dropped off. Our price is for a 24h period, so if you would like to drop your dog in the morning and then pick up only in the evening, there would be an additional charge (reduced day-care rate). I hope this is ok :) ***Where will your dog sleep? Our dogs sleep in bed with us and yours is welcome to do the same. Otherwise we're happy to set up a dog bed for him/her if you prefer. ***Minimum Stays: Please note that we usually have a minimum stay policy over weekends and bank holidays: ● Over weekends we have a *minimum stay of 2 nights* (no pick up or drop off before 9am please 😅, we need some kind of weekend 😆). ● Over bank holidays we have a *minimum stay of 3-4 nights* ● Over Easter, Christmas and New Year it's *5 night minimum* stay but please note we don't accept pick ups or drop offs on the 24th, 25th and 31st of December, and neither on the 01st of January. MEET AND GREETS We are happy to arrange a meet and greet beforehand in our home or nearby park, but it's not a MUST for every enquiry. Depending on your dog's character description, breed, and boarding period we may be able to accept your pet without a meet and greet. In any case for your own peace of mind we will of course be available at a convenient time :) DRPO OFFS and PICK UPS Please note that we generally don't accept drop offs and pick ups at our house and will meet you around the corner or in a nearby park. From experience we have noticed that when dogs come to our house for the first time (or your dog is very sensitive and especially attached to you) it is counterproductive to bring them to our house and "leave them behind". You cannot explain to your dog that they will be well cared for and you will be back, but it may feel to them that they have been abandoned. :( If you enter the house and then leave, they may be stressed and may be crying and scratching at the door and will be confused where they are. This also goes for personal things you may want to pack for your dog - favourite blanket, bed, toys etc. They may miss you more having these things around and may be a little depressed, so I recommend bringing as little as possible and allowing them a "fresh start". They will settle way quicker without any smells or things from home. I hope this makes sense ;) In addition, we need to keep the noise level at an absolute minimum in our house and need to be respectful of our neighbours. With a lot of commotion at the door with new people coming and going constantly it disturbs the peace of any resident dogs, create excitement and potentially barking which we would like to avoid as best as possible to not disturb them. I hope that's OK 🤗 Ultimately we bought the neighbours with the house, so need to get along with them a little bit longer 😆 We look forward to hearing from you! Please let us know if you have any questions and would like to meet us before making a booking ☺️ All the best, Jenny and James xx

Millie has just spent 2 days with Jenny and her partner. It was reassuring to see the many videos and photos of Millie who looked so happy and was clearly enjoying her time, playing, going for walks and chasing balls with Jennys dogs. She slept well at night! It is clear that Jenny loves dogs and we will definitely use her again.

Goldie was happy and confident after her 5 nights with Jenny & James over Christmas. They shared plenty of videos (Santa unpacking gifts for each dog was lovely) and kept us up to date with how she was. I was a bit concerned with how she'd go with so many larger dogs, but Jenny was conscious to give Goldie space to settle in and find her feet.

Jenny is just brilliant with my little guy. He can get quite anxious and isn't always great with other dogs, so we did a trial day for him to spend time with her two dogs. He was fine with them pretty much right away, and likewise loved Jenny. He stayed with her while I was on holiday and she sent multiple videos and photos each day, which really set my mind at ease. I'll definitely be relying on Jenny again.

Jen and James took such good care of Magali and Jade!! We could see both of our dogs were so happy and really comfortable with them and the other dogs during their stay! We had some unforeseen circumstances for our first booking and they were really flexible when it came to changing the dates. Also, during our travel we had to delay our return date by one day and they were also super flexible in relation to the pick up time. During the time our dogs stayed with them, we received multiple videos every day, which made us confident they were happy and well treated. One of our dogs was using eye drops and Jen and James were able to continue the treatment without any issues. All the other dogs that were also staying there were super lovely and friendly. We will be able to travel in peace knowing they will be happy to stay there next time and I’m sure both Jade and Magali are looking forward for their next vacation in Jenny’s pooch paradise!

Information Jenny D. would like to know about your pet

INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DOG Unless you already specify these things on your dog's profile here on Rover, it may be good to know about the following when taking care of your dog. You can either let us know in advance by text or we can discuss this in person during a little meet and greet. :) ***Does your dog have allergies or health issues we should be aware of? ***Can your dog be fed together with other dogs? ***Does your dog pull on the lead or is lead reactive towards things or people (i. e. children, scooters, skateboards, men, etc)? ***Does your dog chew on leads and possibly bite them through? ***Does your dog get along with all dogs, both on the lead and off lead - with small & big dogs, female and male, neutered & unneutered? ***Can children say hi to your dog? (we don't have children but maybe a child on the street or in the park may want to say hi) ***Does your dog jump on people? ***Does your dog tend to bark or whine? ***Does your dog have separation anxiety and how long can he or she stay alone? Can he/she be left alone for up to 3 hours without any problems (no barking, whining, scratching on doors, no accidents, no damages)? While we're mostly home we may want to go out for dinner, see a show or may need to do some shopping and can't guarantee a 24/7 watch. ***Does your dog chew on shoes, socks, chair legs, etc or rip toys apart? ***Does your dog have a prey drive? (if yes, how strong and which animals?) ***Can your dog be off the lead in a securely gated space; i. e. would your dog be anxious if we tried to get him/her back on the lead or may treat it like a game? ***Does your dog have any other behavioural issues, unwanted behaviours or special needs we need to be aware?

A typical day

We usually wake up with doggie cuddles as they usually all sleep in bed with us or at least with us in our bedroom. Then they all get to go and run around in the garden straight away and we serve breakfast after the first toilet break. After that it's playtime inside the house until the early afternoon when we take all dogs to a nearby enclosed park where which is great for socialising and playing off-lead. After that all the dogs are usually tired and I *finally* get some quiet time to do some work :D. When they wake up we offer another toilet break and then slowly start preparing dinner, after which we will offer another toilet break and then it's cuddle time in the living room :)
