As a child, I had both cats and dogs in the house and we frequently took in abandoned animals, treated their medical problems, and found them homes (sometimes, that ended up being OUR home!). I have been pet-sitting and doing drop-in visits for friends and neighbors since I was a teenager and I've never met an animal that I didn't get along with. I believe that all dogs can be good dogs if they're approached in the right way. As an adult, I've fostered for rescue groups as well as volunteered, doing intake, cleaning, and assisting with medical treatment. I've done drop-in visits and house-sitting for animals with special needs that required medication, special feeding, or subcutaneous fluids. I have a close relationship with my vet and his staff as well as many other resources to help me make good decisions regarding caring for my own animals. I have two pit bull mixes that were both adopted from shelters as adults. They have some unique behavioral challenges but we've worked closely with them and made a lot of progress. I also have cats and a few other small pets. If I'm house-sitting or doing drop-in visits for your dog(s), I don't mind checking in on other critters. At home, we have cats, a gecko, a turtle, fish, and a rat. I'm a stay-at-home mom with two special needs teens that my wife and I adopted through foster care.
