Work From Home, Years of Experience

Pet care experience

There’s nothing better than getting to make sure that a dog has the love they need! As a lifelong dog lover, and I can’t imagine my life without them. I’ve been pet sitting dogs since I was a child, so becoming a professional dog sitter was a natural decision for me. I love the fact that I can hang out with dogs and give back to my community all at the same time! Most of my experience is with small and medium sized dogs although I am comfortable with larger dogs. I have many years of experience working as a professional dog sitter, walker, and boarder. My most rewarding dog experience was when I took in a pregnant stray dog, covered the bill when she needed an emergency c-section, and cared for her and the puppies until they were old enough to go to new homes. I placed all of the dogs with people I knew and they are all happy and doing well. I hope to foster dogs in an official capacity some day in the future! Although I’ll be the primary caregiver to your pup, I also live with my husband, children, and sister. My husband is a big animal lover and helps when I have dogs to care for. He loves to be around dogs and is always there to provide some extra love and affection. My three daughters also love to help by playing with dogs and giving them lots of love. My sister, who is an experienced professional dog walker, also lives with us and helps with the dogs when she is home. All the humans in my house love dogs and are happy to help. I also have two dogs who are very friendly and excited when new four legged friends come to stay! We have 5 cats in the house that prefer not to be bothered by dogs so they stay on the second and third floors for the most part when we have dogs staying with us. Our home is big but very welcoming! During a stay, I’ll always make sure to put your dog’s safety and happiness first. I know that no one knows your your pup better than you do, so I’ll always follow your instructions exactly. That means adhering to feeding times, exercise regimens, and potty breaks. Plus, I always love to spoil pups, so let me know how I can make your pup as happy as possible! For owners, I provide detailed updates three times a day along with photos of the dog's day. That way you can be updated on how your pooch is doing and see how much fun they’re having with me! I live in a three story Victorian home that my husband and I are restoring in the historic district of Aurora, IL. My neighborhood is lovely to walk around in and there is a large park with a half-mile trail nearby. It’s perfect for exploration and checking out what’s happening in nature. My yard is not fenced in but my property is half an acre so there are lots of areas to walk around on a leash. Your pup will love running around and exploring my house, lounging on the couch, and basking in the sunlight that comes in our large windows!

Last summer I ended up with a crazy work schedule, and Jenni was amazing helping out taking care of my fussy old silky terrier, Rascal. She walked him a couple of times a day, spoiled him with treats, and made sure to fit in some play time everyday. She kept me in the loop via text everyday, she’s been by far my favorite pet sitter! Jenni was attentive, active, and a great friend to my fur baby. I know I’ll be able to rely on her for any future pet sitting needs! And I know Rascal will be so excited to see her!

Jenni is just an awesome person overall, loves people and animals of any sort. Her open and fun personality is loved by everyone and her and my animals adore her. She is just a loving person who is capable of taking care of everything in an efficient and professional way. A lovely and knowledgable person for this job.

My dog passed away this past summer, but when he was alive Jenni would watch him when I would go out of town. He was an older dog that couldn't get around so well, but I fully trusted Jenni to give him the best care. She would send me updates on how he was doing during the day along with pictures, which I thought was thoughtful of her. He was always happy when I would come back to get him.

Information Jennifer T. would like to know about your pet

I do need to know that your dog is good with kids and other animals. I also like to know your dogs cues for needing to go to the bathroom and any other behaviors that are unique. Some other things I like to learn ahead of time: Would you like to schedule a meet-and-greet before the stay? What’s your preferred method of communication? Does your pup have any health issues that need to be tended to? For instance, dietary restrictions, medicine, or behavior triggers? Do you have a vet nearby that you trust? Is your dog spayed/neutered? Does your pup like to stick to a given schedule, like regular walks in the morning and evening? What does your pup do well around? What does your pup try to avoid? What’s the best way to spoil your pup?

A typical day

I work from home so I would be home all day with your pup. That makes me a great fit for dogs that are used to having someone around them during the day. When I have dogs staying with me, I always take them for an hour's worth of walks, usually two shorter walks and one longer walk. I like to take dogs on the most quiet and scenic routes around the neighborhood. When your dog is at my house, I like to walk to the large park near my house. I believe that dogs benefit from this type of environment as much as humans. In addition to the time we spend together walking, your pup and I would play fetch, tug of war, or sit together on the couch. We’d would also spend time playing with my three children and two dogs. When I'm not pet sitting I enjoy taking walks in the forest preserve, hiking, stand-up paddle boarding, biking, reading, and relaxing. Being outside makes me happiest, so I love to spend as much time as I can outdoors with a canine co-pilot!
