Pet care experience
I have been an animal lover my entire life! My first job working with animals was in high school when I would care for a neighbor’s cat and elderly dog when they were out of town. Fast forward to 2010, I started working at the PetsHotel at PetSmart, a doggy daycare and boarding facility for cats and dogs. I was there for a year before switching over to a dog only facility for another year, Downtown Dogs, where they heavily emphasized positive reinforcement and training in assuring the good behavior of our furry friends. In 2012, I began working as a veterinary assistant at a hospital that emphasized and trained us in low stress animal handling. I held this position for nearly three years and earned my veterinary assistant certification from the California Veterinary Medical Association in February 2015. With this experience, I continually pet sit for friends when they go out of town to this day. Now I am working on a degree in Film and TV Production, and Screenwriting, but I miss working with dogs! My days just aren't the same without them, though I deeply love my current work. Dog walking and pet sitting both allow me to get my doggy fix while giving me a flexible schedule for my education.
Reviews
I have a three year old scottish terrier/chihuahua mix-- his name is Pickles. Jennifer has been an invaluable asset in helping provide loving and attentive care to Pickles when I'm otherwise unavailable. She is a true animal lover! I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for compassionate, through pet care. Love you Jennifer!

Skills
Information Jennifer R. would like to know about your pet
It's important to know if a dog has any dietary or behavioral issues such as allergies, fear aggression, barrier frustration, etc. If a dog has an illness or needs any sort of medications, has any other special needs, if they have arthritis or if the dog is sensitive about having certain areas of their body touched are also important things to know before spending time alone with another person's dog.
A typical day
One of the things I like to focus on working with dogs is training through fun, positive reinforcement techniques. This means doing things like teaching a dog how to sit on command and using some of their kibble or approved treats by the owner to teach the dog when they have done a good job! I'm also very affectionate towards animals. Dogs who enjoy lots of attention and TLC will love spending time with me.
