We started with Rover in the spring of 2017, caring for dogs in our home and have thoroughly enjoyed being the "home away from home" for so many. We are a relaxed and caring family that enjoys all kinds of animals and we have guinea pigs, a cat and often foster other small animals. We have many regular dogs that come to stay with us on a regular basis and are always happy to see them! I love being a dog walker and pet sitter and since I love to travel , too, I enjoy giving my clients the peace of mind knowing that their pets and home are well taken care of while they are away. While I primarily work in the downtown Carmel area, I occasionally can travel further, depending on the location of my other clients. I am careful to only schedule a few dog walks and visits a day so that I can devote time to each and every animal I get to spend time with. I am also sometimes available for overnight care , primarily during the summer. For boarding - we love to walk and be outdoors and will treat your pet as a member of our family. Since I typically only work a few hours a day, we can spoil your dog with lots of attention and walks! We have a fenced in backyard and spend a lot of time outdoors.

This was our first time leaving our 2 year old puppy, Rocky, and we were going for a full week-long vacation. Jennifer and her family went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. She has a great personality and warm smile which instantly makes you feel like you've known her forever. We received a few pictures and an update every day which helped to ease our minds. Whenever I sent a text just to check-in, Jennifer always responded quickly. We took a few toys, blanket and other items to make Rocky feel at home but Jennifer supplied toys and other friends (guinea pigs & a kitty) which kept Rocky busy as well. I would definitely recommend Camp Barker!

My goal is always to give my clients the peace of mind that everything is being well taken care of at home so you can have a relaxing time away. Do they have any allergies or health conditions? How do they react around other dogs and animals? What is their regular routine at home? I ask these and other questions in our first conversation or meet and greet . If we are a good fit and your dog comes to our home , they MUST have previous experience with cats or a proven "ignoring or non chasing" personality. We love almost any kind of dog, however we can only take small to medium dogs. We have a special place in our hearts for rescues!
A typical day
We like to call ourselves "Camp Barker" and love to spend as much time outside as possible. Tell us your dog's favorite activities. Since we don't have dogs of our own, we like to "spoil them and send them home!" Our neighborhood has a lot of trees and is ideal for walking. We also live near the Monon trail and can walk the trail for longer walks or with your permission, go on "field trips". Over the years we have added to our assortment of toys for dogs and have a variety of them, but please feel free to bring your dogs' favorites along.

Availability
Mon-Fri and some weekends I work part-time as a dog walker and pet sitter. I am generally not gone for more than 3 hours at a time and my 20 yr old daughter works from home twice a week so any pets we care for in our home get lots of love and attention.
