I work full time at the University of Iowa on Sunday-Thursday, but have plenty of flexibility throughout the day to do checks before and after work. If a lunch hour stop works best, we can talk it through!

When visiting a new client I always like to see the pets in their home environment, where they're most comfortable - this is complimentary! You and your pet can get to know me, so there's less anxiety when the scheduled care happens. That also helps me know where to find everything I need during an at-home visit. If you opt to board your pet at my house, I have a fenced-in backyard with grass, a doggy pool for those nice summer days, plenty of places for shade. Inside, I have a dedicated cat room with a gate that lets kitties in, and dogs out. My guest room can also be closed off with a kennel, or litter box and cat supplies if pets need a private space. I live in a cozy cul-de-sac near lots of walking trails and a public park that is great for leashed outdoor time.

A typical day
When I'm with your pets, I love playing! We can play fetch, frisbee (I promise I won't throw it on your roof!), and I live very close to bike and walking trails. Want a bigger adventure? I'm a 10 min drive from 2 different state parks and have a pair of hiking boots ready to go. After, lets get a quick bath done, and grooming if needed.

With 15+ years of personal and professional animal care experience, there's not much that you can throw at me I won't be able to handle! I have worked at doggy daycares in multiple states, was a holiday supervisor at a very posh boarding hotel in Nashville, TN where I lead a weekly class on puppy socialization and body language, and have even worked in zoos! I am trained in neonatal care, senior palliative care, and basic pet first aid. I am also comfortable administering medications, including injections.

Jen has extensive experience with so many animal species and individuals. She learns about your pet and meets their individual preferences so that they have the best time! I do not trust many people with my pets, but I trust Jen in every situation with my dogs, cats, and reptiles!
Jen is a godsend for us! I’m very tentative to take vacations or time away from home because I trust no one with my fur babies. When we finally HAD to go out of town (fam emergency) we were lucky enough to find Jen! Our dog adores them and even our usually shy senior cat does too! Jen seems to be an all-around animal person, I’m positive your dog/cat/lizard/bunny etc would love them I know we do!
