love high energy and reactive dogs

Pet care experience

We can discuss prices for bookings that repeat multiple times a week, or if you live less than 5 minutes away from me. If you need more than 2 drop-in visits per day, the price will be lowered to $17 per visit to keep it affordable. I use positive reinforcement to direct the dogs on walks. (I'm currently taking a course to get a CATCH dog training certification.) I usually bring treats along on every walk, unless discussed otherwise. I do not correct/punish dogs for expressing their emotions. I’m familiar with counter-conditioning and LAT training methods, and would continue to implement those training plans for reactive dogs during our walks, so that you don’t have any setbacks in your training. All for the same price, I offer different types of walks: 1. Regular dog walk around the neighborhood 2. A relaxing sniffari - I will take your dog to a quiet park and let them explore on a long line. I have leash options ranging from 12ft - 100ft, or we can use your own leash. 3. Urban mushing (rollerskating with dogs) for high energy dogs who want to RUN, RUN, RUN!! I have many harnesses that fit dogs of various sizes, and can be used for pulling, so it won't be a problem if your dog doesn't have his own harness. 4. I only have a $7 price difference between 30 minute walks and 60 minute walks, because I prefer longer walks. Boarding: My dogs love other dogs, so when we have dogs stay over, they will keep our guests entertained with wrestling, chasing, or tug-o-war all day long. However, they also respect personal space, so it won't be a problem if your dog doesn't want to play. In case your dog prefers other forms of entertainment, we can go on walks, play at-home enrichment games, do some trick training, or maybe even inline skating. Of course, less active dogs are welcome to just hang out on the couch, or soak up the sun in our fenced backyard. We look forward to plenty of playtime! If your dog stays with me for long enough, I can (upon request) also get started with teaching them some things (like cooperative nail care, tooth brushing, bath time ...or just tricks), and I can show you how to continue the training plan, so that you'll be able to do these things for your dog when he's back home with you. I am also willing to look after small pets. I have experience with hamsters, fancy rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, but I can also look after small birds (no macaws or such) and cold blooded animals (no snakes). I own a currently uninhabited double critter nation cage, which your pets could stay in, or you can bring your own cage. The second floor of our house is a dog-free zone, so the small animals will not be stressed out unnecessarily. I can also do drop-in visits at your house if staying in the familiar environment is less stressful for your animals. I'm home for most of the day, except when I leave for an hour or two to run errands or walk another dog. My husband works from home as well, so the dogs are never left completely alone. On Saturdays, I'm only available in the afternoons. I've set them as unavailable because Rover doesn't provide the option of setting afternoon availability for a single day, but you can message me to discuss a potential booking. I usually do not crate dogs when they stay at my house for boarding or daycare, but I do have crates available in case you think it would be safer for your dog to be crated. I have a separate "dog room" in my house, with various dog beds, and an armchair to nap on, as well as many toy options. This room will be where the dog stays on the first few days whenever I can't supervise (at night, or when I'm out walking other dogs). Once I get to know your dog a bit better, and know they won't get into scuffles with my dogs, they will be allowed to sleep in the living room with them.

Information Jennifer F. would like to know about your pet

If your dog is staying at my house, resource guarding is not a problem, but I'd like to know in advance so I can prepare, and remove all toys/chew toys that might cause conflict between the dogs. Is the dog prone to barking? Will the dog refuse to pee outside in the rain? Do they have any allergies? In order to reduce separation anxiety, I'd like to get to know each dog before we book any stays at my house. That means I’ll pick them up for a few walks to get to know them, or have them stay at my house for a few hours as a trial run. (These walks and trial-stay will be free.) Included in the stay is free pick-up. I prefer to pick the dogs up from your home, because in my experience that makes them feel like they're going on another adventure with me (after they already know me), as opposed to being brought to an unknown place and "abandoned" by their family. At the end of the stay, you can come and pick the dog up from my house, or I can drop the dog off at your place again. (Drop-off is $5 extra)

A typical day

We usually go on one walk per day, either at Poricy Park, Thompson Park, Bayonet Farm, Alloco Park, or if your dog doesn't like car rides, we can walk to the Henry Hudson Trail. We can also go running/rollerjoring to get all that energy out, or do some brain work in the form of trick training, puzzle toys, or basic obedience training if needed. We have a variety of food puzzles that can give your dog a mental workout as well, or we can just hang out in our fenced backyard and relax.

I do dog walking full time, so I have lots of experience. If I'm watching a dog at my house, the dog will need to be okay with being left alone for a few hours.
