A second family for your pet
Pet care experience
Though rover primary focuses on dogs, I have the ability and knowledge to care for many types of pets. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your specific needs. As an animal lover, I have cared for my own personal pet over the years which have included dogs, cats, ferrets, aquariums and koi pond, chickens, reptiles and rodents. Many friends have trusted me to care for their pets while traveling for days, weeks, even a months at a time.. I have also spent time as an animal shelter volunteer caring the wellbeing of primarily dogs and cats. Duties included feeding, cage/litter box cleaning, bathing, giving general love/emotianal support, and working on basic manners. Currently I am a volunteer for Great Pyrenees Rescue Society where I periodically foster dogs both owner surrendered, and pulled from high kill shelters in Texas, then transported to the Pacific Northwest for adoption. In addition to fostering, I assist with screening potential applicants for adoption. In June my family made the transition to me being a full time stay at home mom. This has been such a huge blessing, and I would love to find a way to use my newfound extra time supplement our income while doing something I truly enjoy, caring for animals! If your pup enters our home for daycare, her or she will be part of our extended furry family. My young playful dogs enjoy running around the back yard with new friends. Your pup would have the benefit of having a family home with him/her for the the day while in my care. Our home includes my 4 year old son who is respectful of and familiar with dogs of all sizes, and two smaller dogs (the ones pictured resting by the fire in my photos) who are well socialized, two indoor/outdoor kitties who are great with dogs, and chickens who are in their own coop in the backyard. All of our animals are current on all scheduled vaccinations, and documentation can be provided upon request. I will request prospective clients whose animal will be in my home to provide vaccine documentation, or give permission for me to make a vet call to confirm vaccinations. This is not required for clients who only desire drop in visits to their home, or walks. I would prefer to care for dogs in home who are well socialized friendly dogs that will integrate with my family. Your dog must be trustworthy around children, and not have a history of aggression towards other animals. I would be happy to assist with any basic training you are working on with your dog to help keep consistency and reinforce your goals. Lastly, thank you for your interest, I look forward to meeting you and your four legged fur-kid!

Jen is a wonderful pet person. She has always opened her heart to my Aura my pup who can get overly excited. She is Very accommodating would recommend her to everyone. You know you pet will be loved and properly taken care of and care for. Thanks Jennifer for being awesome!!
Jennifer is the most loving & caring person I've ever known. Her love & care for all her furry family members rivals most humans care for their own flesh & blood. She is one of the few people I trust to care for my four legged family members. Trust me when I say that you will not be disappointed if you allow her in your lives, in fact your life will be that much richer by just knowing her.
For years, Jennifer was the only person I would allow to care for my English Mastiff, Fionnuala. When my father passed away in Europe, I left with only hours notice - and I left for six weeks. Jennifer was right there to stay in my home, care for my baby as for her own. Fionnuala missed me, sure... Jen would tell me she was moping or getting fussy about eating, but at the end of those long weeks, Fionnuala was happy, healthy, whole, safe, and cared for. What more could a person ask for? Few people will care so much for your pet.
Jennifer is a very qualified and capable dog-sitter, walker, and care-taker. She owns two dogs and keeps them very healthy, but has also proven her capacities to go above and beyond through taking care of dogs through the Great Pyreness Rescue Society. She's found herself taking care of at least four dogs at the same time and succeeds in keeping them all well fed, healthy, disciplined, and happy. Sometimes this can prove to be a very challenging task since the dogs that she own might not be the most appreciative of new dogs on their territory, but she always comes up with ways to work around that. Upon leaving her household, I saw her take in a dog named Indigo from the Great Pyreness Rescue Society in one car while her beloved partner, Nate, took their dogs to a dog park to get to know each other for the first time before Indigo headed back to their house. This made the dogs all comfortable with each other. She's a long time dog owner and sitter, and it's a challenge to find a dozen people as qualified as her.

Your dog must be up to date on vaccinations, free of any known flea problems, and trustworthy with children/other animals. I prefer dogs that have been well socialized and will integrate well with my own dogs. For short term visits I do have the ability to segregate if needed, but this is not my preference and would only be used in the case of a very short term solution.
A typical day
Your dog would enjoy going on leashed walks if requested, and have plenty of playtime in the back yard with our dogs and children, cuddling up by the fire on cold days. We have lots of doggie toys, and balls for playing fetch. Summer in our backyard is the most magical time, we bring out a kiddie pool for the pups (and kids) to play in, and lots of sprinkler time! We hardly go in the house once warm days begin.
