Your Pet's Home Away From Home
Pet care experience
Hello and welcome to the Bluegrass Bark and Breakfast, you pet's home away from home! My name is Jennifer and I worked as a full time and emergency care veterinary technician for 6 years before I decided on a change of career. Now I work from home, so I have lots of flexibility to help care for your babies while you are away. I treat my dogs and cats like they are my family, and I would love to do the same for yours. My aim is to establish long-term relationships with clients and their pets so that my home will be your first choice for all your boarding needs. This way you will know that they are comfortable and feel at home while you are away! My home is fully pet friendly and dogs are allowed on all furniture, including the bed if they wish. I have a large back yard that is fully and securely fenced to allow for as much supervised outdoor playtime as possible. I also keep a generous supply of pup-safe toys, indestructible chews, and all-natural treats on hand to ensure your pups feels just as spoiled (or maybe even more so!) as if they were at home. As a former veterinary technician, I am experienced in handling all types of dogs with all types of temperaments, as well as skilled in administering medications, injections, spotting problems, and caring for special needs cats and dogs. I have had several senior dogs myself and I am always more than happy to cater to any special needs or requests. I also do offer bathing and nail trimming with boarding for an additional fee upon request. Please feel free to contact me at any time to talk about your pet care needs and schedule a meet and greet!

I treat all pets as though they are family members. As a lifetime pet owner myself, I understand the importance of animals in our lives and the priceless value that they carry. My home is designed to be pet friendly and safe, so you can rest assured that your babies are in good hands while you are away. In my home, I have safety gates placed throughout to prevent dogs from escaping or running through the front door. The fence around the back yard is very secure and checked regularly for any holes or defects. I am also trained in emergency first aid and CPR for dogs and cats just in case!

Information Jennifer B. would like to know about your pet
Most importantly, I will need to know how well your dog is socialized with humans, cats, and dogs. I personally have a miniature dachshund and 3 house cats and I frequently have multiple boarders at a time, so all dogs must be comfortable with other pets. My preference is to do a meet and greet before a stay so that we can both assess your dog's comfort level in the environment and I can get a feel for how well they will get along with other pets. This ensures that everyone has a stress-free stay and that all dogs are safe and comfortable and able to enjoy group play time. I cannot accept dogs who are aggressive or snippy towards either humans or pets. Please let me know if your pet has any allergies (food or otherwise), medications, or special needs. I do also like to learn a little about your pet's daily habits, preferences, sleep habits, etc. All of this information helps me to ensure your pets have an enjoyable and stress-free visit.
A typical day
Our day at the Bark and Breakfast begins at about 6:30-7am when dogs are taken out into the yard to potty and play. Breakfast is served shortly after, followed by more supervised play time. I try to allow as much supervised time in the yard as possible for dogs to play and exercise, weather permitting. During the day, dogs are allowed free run of the house with several potty and play breaks throughout. They also have free access to several different types of toys and hard, natural chews (all chews are indestructible). If I need to leave the home for any period of time, they are either crated or allowed to roam free, depending on the dog's individual needs and habits. Dinner is served around 5-6pm, followed by more play time outdoors, walks if required, and any additional special care. At night, dogs are allowed to sleep on the bed or on any of the multiple dog beds in the house, depending on what they prefer. If your pet needs feedings, supplements, or medications/treatments at any time during the day, I am happy to accommodate their individual needs as well.

Availability
Currently my primary occupation allows me to work from home. I do have a part-time job that requires me to leave for a few hours in the morning 2-3 days a week, but I am never away from the house more than 3-4 hours at a time. My day begins at 6:30-7am with pet care taking first priority.
