Jenna was very sweet and ended up treating my pup well. However, the day before my pup was supposed to board with her, she said that she wouldn’t be home during the drop off time I specified, so I could either 1) leave my dog in her apartment alone until she got back or 2) leave my dog in my home and she would pick her up. Knowing that my pup would freak out in a brand new place alone not knowing what was going on, it seemed like the only realistic option was to leave her at my home and have Jenna pick her up. This was obviously far from ideal and I was pretty torn up about it. My pup could tell when I packed my stuff up despite my best efforts to be stealthy, and when I left she freaked out anyways, being terrified that I’d abandoned her. Jenna picked her up from my house 2 hours later and all ended up fine, but then she messaged me that evening that she charges $10 extra for a pickup. I didn’t have much of a choice in the situation and felt a bit backed into it since she didn’t tell me her plans ahead of time, so this felt very unfair. The rest of the weekend ended up going fine. Just be careful if you have a pup that isn’t super chill in unexpected situations. The fact that Jenna accepted the job without telling me ahead of time about not being available during the pickup window I specified (I booked weeks beforehand) really bothered me.
