Lifelong dog lover, new cat momma!

Pet care experience

I was a huge dog lover growing up and started housesitting in high school for extra cash. I started Rover after graduating college and I love it! I truly love bonding with my furry clients and becoming a part of their extended family. I have experience caring for lots of breeds, ages, sizes, and abilities. I have no problem giving medicine (I pill my cat every morning), but I have never done shots. I personally trim my cats' nails & brush their teeth every week, so please let me know if you'd like me to give your pets some TLC. I am a strong girl who can handle walking the most energetic pup or the strongest bully breed. I rescued my two kittens when they were 4 weeks old (my parents found them in their backyard!) at the height of the pandemic. I dedicated a lot of energy during that time learning how to raise the best cats possible and I like to think I've got some pretty great ones. :)

Jenna could not be more trustworthy, easy to work with, and caring for animals. I had her stay overnight at my place for a week while on vacation. The meet and greet went well and she responded so promptly to everything. Even more noteworthy, she went above and beyond throughout the trip. From washing my English bulldogs face (he gets goobery) to daily updates, to catching a wet spot I left behind from watering plants, she consistently went above and beyond! Highly recommend!

Jenna visited my cat Mina while my husband and I were away. She did a fantastic job! I loved the videos she sent us of Mina. Jenna is a great communicator and was very responsive while messaging. Our cat is a social cat and I could tell that Jenna went out of the way to play and interact with her. In addition, our cat loved Jenna — she was constantly purring and begging for Jenna’s attention. Mina was well cared for (her food, water, and litterbox were perfectly maintained and monitored) & it made our time away from home less stressful knowing that Mina was in good hands. I highly recommend Jenna!

Jenna took incredible care with our cats while we were out of town. My younger cat, who is usually slow to warm up to people, felt comfortable with Jenna quickly. Jenna is reliable and sept plenty of photos and even a few videos :) I would recommend her services highly!

Housesitting is my most popular service, where I stay in your home. I will ask what your pet's daily routine is normally like. Do they have separation anxiety -- if so, how bad? Is there anything they tend to get into when away from their humans? Do you anticipate them needing any kind of "extra" care while I am with them? For dogs -- Where are their favorite places to walk/sniff? How are they on walks, passing by other people or dogs? I run into a lot of dogs with improper-fitting harnesses or leashes that need to be updated, which leads me to feel uncomfortable and unsafe while walking them. I bring my own 3 ft leash for this reason and will always check if I need to make adjustments to the harness (rule of thumb is only 2 fingers should fit under the harness). I would say about half the time, my furry clients have harnesses or collars (I prefer walking with harnesses) that are too big. Please keep this in mind when asking someone new to take care of your dog. They will act differently around me than they do with their humans. Your pets' safety is my number one priority. Additionally, it is important that I feel safe and comfortable in your home while staying there. I can give my best quality care when I feel taken care of in return. Please let me know if you have any cameras in your home. Please make sure there are clean sheets & towels for me. Let me know if you would like me to bring my own food or if you are ok with me eating what is there. Does anyone else have a spare key -- could I contact them in case of an emergency? I do my best to always leave my clients' homes in better condition than I found them. I value cleanliness and organization. I know the feeling of returning home after a long day of travel to a home that is neat and orderly (and the feeling of returning to one that is not...). I make it a priority to leave your home in a state that is relieving and relaxing to come home to.

Information Jenna G. would like to know about your pet

As mentioned previously, I need to know how they are interacting with other dogs, how they are on walks, their outside schedule, if they take any medications, and how long they are okay being left alone. I require your pet(s) to be vaccinated and flea-treated. I would like to know what commands they know & any they are working on. For Housesitting stays, I do not mind pets sleeping in the bed/room with me, but if they wake me up excessively, they will be put into another room for the night. Housesitting for folks can really disrupt my sleep health and it is important that I get good rest while on the job. Additionally, I will ask what is your biggest challenge(s) with your pet(s) right now. I find that talking about this openly is a good indicator of if I am a good fit for your pet(s) and what I will need to prepare for. I desire to create ongoing relationships with my clients, so I am primarily working with those that are the best match for me.

A typical day

I try my best to keep my furry clients occupied. I am big into slow feeding & giving them “jobs” to do, if applicable. I am always looking for ways to keep them enriched. Let me know if I can take them to the dog park for some interaction and exercise! I also like to put on pet tv for them if I am gone/doing work and love watching them get absorbed in that. :)

Availability

I have started a new part-time in-person job. Now that I no longer have full-time availability for Rover, I am going to be more picky about the stays I accept. Notably, how long your pets are ok being left alone for. On the days I go into work, I would be away from your home anywhere from 5-8 hours. This will probably mean I am more likely to accept shorter stays, but I am still open to longer ones. Additionally, I have my own cats who I like to spend some time with during my stays. My new job will impact my availability for Drop-ins & Walks the least, so I am happy to accept those.
