Thank you.* I was allowed to care for my first puppy when I was seven years old and since then I have lived with a total of three dogs of my own. I have volunteered as a dog walker, cat cuddler, and foster. At my shelter we learned to always use positive reinforcement only. I've interacted with countless pets and always strive to give them the best care possible. This requires being patient and attentive and quickly adapting to the needs of every individual pet. The shelter required training classes in order to volunteer and I learned how to safely interact with unknown dogs and safely respond to unexpected behaviors. For example, when a dog jumps up I do not attempt to push him off but simply step or pivot away.
