Your Partner in Pet Parenting

Pet care experience

I have always felt that pets are a part of the family and I do everything I can to make my pets happy & to keep them healthy. I will care for your pets as if they were my own & respect their limitations and your guidelines for their care. I have experience caring for dogs, cats, ferrets & some pocket pets, but my educational background & training experience is with dogs, and I have a soft spot for those with fear, anxiety & reactivity issues and I love working with them to overcome their insecurities. I run a professional business, Canine Concierge Services, that you can depend on to help you with the responsibilities of pet parenting; from training, to brushing, to picking up food and supplies. With my visits, you will get a full-service pet care provider and come home to a well-mannered, clean & happy pet! I adhere to the standards of the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) & use learning theory & modern scientific evidence as a foundation for behavior modification. I believe in force-free, reward-based training only! I like to keep dogs under threshold, where their emotions aren't taking over their ability to learn, while gently pushing them outside of their comfort zone to help them grow and gain confidence. I believe in guiding dogs, establishing boundaries, building mutual respect and clearly communicating expectations to help dogs navigate the human world. I am always looking for opportunities to reward good behavior! I am a proud member of The Pet Professional Guild (PPG) and supporting member of The Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) and frequently take online classes through them to further my education. I have been certified in pet first aid multiple times and make sure that I take a refresher course at least once/yr. I also have the American Red Cross Pet First Aid & PetTech PetSaver apps on my phone and carry a pet first aid booklet & kit with me at all times.

Jen did awesome! My dogs like her so much they were sad to see her leave. Jen sent pictures at least twice each day, took them on outings (walks on trails nearby) and generally pampered them. She even watered my lawn! We will definitely have a continued relationship and highly recommend her.

Jen was able to put our skittish pup at ease right away and did an awesome job with great communication throughout her stay for house and pet sitting. Highly recommend!

I was so grateful to have found Jen to take care of our pets and home while we were out of town. I can admit that our pets are high maintenance. Our Labrador is from field lines and has crazy energy, even at almost 9 years old. Not to mention, he was on prednisone which meant lots of water drinking and the need for many bathroom breaks. In addition to the Lab, our rat terrier has a need to snuggle a warm body as often as possible. Jen managed to keep our dogs super happy! And she also scooped up the dog poop in the yard! Major points for that one! In addition to the dogs, we have two cats. One of them was prescribed antibiotics just before we had to leave. Jen seemed to have zero issues with that. We came home to happy cats and a clean cat box! We also have 6 chickens, and Jen was kind enough to allow them to free range with her supervision, and she collected their eggs on a daily basis. She admitted that she had no experience with chickens, but they are easy enough. I will not hesitate to contact Jen in the future for our needs of pet care. She followed the instructions we left for her, and would send photos of our crew via text message. That certainly helped us to feel at ease, and to know that she caring for them! They had plenty of attention, including walks when it wasn't too hot outside. I will add that we were a little unsure about having a stranger stay in our home. But the minute I met Jen, I knew that she was the right person and that we didn't need to be anxious about having her here. Thank you Jen for putting up with our crazy pets! I have no doubts they miss you!

We adopted our dog from Jen, who was fostering her. Jen did absolutely amazing work while she fostered our Bella. Bella had some issues and Jen worked tirelessly to help socialize her and train her. It was a month from when we first met Bella and when we brought her home and we saw a noticeable difference in her behavior and attribute that to Jen's work. Jen is a kind, caring and thoughtful dog owner. We trusted her 100% with Bella when we left the dog with her for our 10 day honeymoon. We even noticed Bella was better behaved when we picked her up! We've had Bella now for 3 years and whenever Bella sees Jen again she goes CRAZY because she loves Jen so much! Dogs know good people. :)

Information Jen J. would like to know about your pet

I like to know a lot about the dogs I am working with so that we both have the best experience possible! I do not have a breed preference, but I have a soft spot for anxious and reactive dogs.

A typical day

I will always customize the experience to what your dog needs and wants, or what you need done! We can walk the neighborhood, go to the park, take a swim, play fetch/frisbee/hide and seek, play with toys, snuggle & cuddle, or anything his/her heart desires. I also like to work on fun training for basic manners, loose-leash walking, and default behaviors. I can also do light grooming if needed/wanted :)
