• I grew up marveling at how animals give birth, knowing instinctively how to tend their young. We rescued a neurotic bunny (“Twig”) from the zoo in Seattle where she was found traumatized in the African safari habitat, avoiding elephants and zebras. Months with lavender bedding and frequent petting eventually calmed her frayed nerves.

Any special dietary or exercise needs, or accommodations for handicaps, if he has been rescued or deals with PTSD, any special trigger words or habits that help him feel at ease, how he does around a cat, if he’s open to having our unusually mature 12 year-old pet him. During the summer, my teen often accompanies me on Rover outings. I’m sensitive to high-pitched barking, so “yippy” dogs would do better with a sitter other than me. Merritt Island is home to several reliable and friendly pet-tenders! I do not accept dogs that bite. If arranged in advance, I’m open to taking your dog for an extended outing (beach, park), for an additional fee we discuss. Your pup would need to fit in the back of my Chevy Volt. (A retriever or Labrador would fit, but a Great Dane would not.)
A typical day
Regarding doggy daycare option, we live in the Surfside Estates development, off of Banana River Drive N, at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. Our neighbors on one side have a big old black Labrador, and the retiree on the other side has a talkative terrier he keeps indoors. How does your dog behave around other dogs?

• I am an executive assistant for a private practice attorney/business coach, with flexible, remote hours. Having animals to tend gets me up from the computer at regular intervals.
