Pet care experience
I will treat your dog like my own. I love my dogs and believe that they are members of our families. They need lots of exercise and attention to keep their mind and bodies busy and happy. In turn, they keep us happy. I have a large fenced backyard with lots of trees for shade and playing hide and seek and chasing squirrels and sniffing around. I walk my dogs off leash in nearby forest trails approx 5kms for me, likely 10km if I tracked their paces, roughly an hour. Lots of time to sniff and explore. I will walk your dog on a lead until I am sure they are comfortable and respond to me for recall, which may take several stays. If you are visiting the valley, hiking during the day & want an evening free to go out, your dog will be right at home in my home.

Jean and her family were wonderful with our dog, Juno. :) Even with being boarded at a new spot, Juno looked right at home and enjoyed the walks on the trails around Jean's home. She is knowledgeable about dog behaviours and made Juno feel right at home. We'll definitely have Juno visit again!
I found Jean through a google search as I was looking for someone to look after our 3 year old Golden Retriever. I was looking for in home care and not a kennel. I met Jean a few nights later at her home, she has a fully fenced in yard with mature trees an excellent spot for the dogs. As this was our 1st trip away we arranged for an overnight stay prior to the one week stay to ensure our dog would not have any problems. The 1st night was fine and the one week stay went well. Jean provided updates and photos of our dog sleeping on her couch. I am extremely happy that I have found someone that I can feel comfortable with, to leave our Sofie with. Would definitely recommend.

Jean and her family took great care of our dog. They have 2 terrific dogs of their own which gave our little one company during his stay. We would absolutely use them again.

Larger breed dogs are best as mine are as well. But I would never rule out a dog based on size. I would like to know about the temperament and socialization, bite history and any special diet requirements or medications required. What you like to do with your dog and what are your dogs favourite activities and anything I should watch out for.
A typical day
Walk in the woods. There are about 10-15km worth of trails nearby. Play in the shady backyard with my dogs. Lots of cuddle time on the sofa in the evenings. We also have multiple dog beds in every room of the house. No one is lonely.
