I grew up on a farm with lots of animals to care for. I started training my own dogs at 12 in walking on and off lead and general behavior management. I love animals, but I have a really soft spot for big dogs. My last dog was a mastiff/boxer mix who had come from an extremely abusive situation. Rehabilitating her and showing her all the love she had never experienced before was one of the most rewarding thing I have ever done. Unfortunately she has since passed, but I learned how to deal with dogs who have huge personalities. I have had a regular dog sitting client who I sit for a couple times a year for week long periods, now. I also take care of two dogs for weekends about once a month. But I have cared for birds, reptiles, livestock, fish, and your regular house hold pets. I currently have a fish named Onix and a tortoise named Murtle. Murtle and I have been together for the last 13 years, she is willful and intelligent but has a sweet side. I don't mind cleaning up after accidents, I have a lot of practice in it from living on the farm. I believe that consistency is important to help a dog (or any animal) be well trained and happy. For this reason I like to know your dogs schedule and regular behavior management plan, especially if I am watching them regularly. I am comfortable with given an animal their medicine and caring for special needs pets. I am currently studying to be a special education teacher (for people), and so I am comfortable with dogs who have seizures, are blind, are deaf, ect. I do have more experience with larger dog breeds, but have watched/walked plenty of little guys too. I am down for playing and running as well. (I am unable to watch cats. I am extremely allergic to cats and my throat closes up if I am with one too long. I wish I could care for them as well, but over the years I have had more severe reactions everytime I am with a cat.)
