Pet care experience
Hello fellow pet lovers! My name is Jason and I'm excited to provide the highest quality care to your furry family members. Ever since I was 10, I've aspired to be a Veterinarian. Subsequent to graduating with a B.S. in Animal Science from Cal Poly this upcoming spring, I will be attending Washington State University's College of Veterinary medicine. While devoting my life to caring for animals will bring me eternal happiness, Veterinary school is extremely expensive! As a lifelong pet owner of 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 8 fish, I feel passionate about providing my animals with the best possible home care including daily walks, daily exercise/enrichment, grooming, nail trims, ear cleanings, teeth brushing, proper nutrition, and more. Although my responsibilities with your animal will be simple, I think it is relevant to outline my abundant experience both in a clinical and academic setting to ensure you’re receiving the highest quality care. Below are the skills I have learned during my undergraduate degree in Animal Science, in addition to numerous years working in animal shelter and veterinary hospitals. Skills and Qualifications: 1500+ hours spent in an Animal Hospital working as Veterinary Assistant under guidance of Veterinarian • Welcome clients and patients into exam rooms and ask preliminary health questions before arrival of doctor, and then conduct detailed medical notes throughout appointment. • Give nail trims, ear cleanings, administer vaccines • Assemble and administer pre-medication, drawing blood, obtain pre-surgical bloodwork values, catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and monitoring of patients under anesthesia • Collect feces, blood, urine from patients and conduct laboratory tests to assist in diagnosis and treatment conduct diagnostic imagining, prepare animals for surgery • Assist doctors in surgery • Present invoices, receive payment, prepare estimates, and handle client phone calls San Luis Obispo Animal Shelter Volunteer • Exercise and psychological enrichment in the form of walking and ball-playing. • One-on-one behavioral training, in order to socialize each animal and ready them for possible adoption. • Grooming. • Cleaning animal pens. • Refilling food/water dishes. • Communicate with shelter Veterinarians when an abnormality is found in an animal. Anyone who knows Jason will be quick to tell you that animals are one of his strongest and oldest passions. Easy-going, confident, and knowledgeable, Jason gets along with animals and people alike. I have personally trusted him to take care of my sweet cat and have always come home to a happy, healthy well taken care of kitty. People skills and passions aside, Jason's background in animal science and pre-veterinarian medicine makes him extremely prepared to make sure that not only is your pet happy but healthy as well. It is with miles of confidence that I can recommend Jason as being an excellent dog sitter for your fuzzy companion.
I highly recommend Jason as a Rover.com sitter. Although I must admit to being Jason's Dad, I can certainly vouch that Jason LOVES dogs, and all animals for that matter. I never seen a pet that he didn't love. Ever since he's been a young toddler, he's wanted to become a veterinarian. This fall, after nearly 4 years at Cal Poly SLO, he was accepted to veterinarian school. He has always been amazing with our dogs, he faithfully contributed to their upbringing, never skipping a beat to help out. When he steps through the door on a break from school, our dog freaks out, since he knows he's in for a good time. Yes, I'm a bit biased, but Jason would be a great addition to the Rover.com "club".
Jason is my go to guy whenever I have any issue with my dogs. It is incredibly clear to see why Jason is so dedicated in his pursuit to become a veterinarian when you see him with animals - he loves them! Since I mentioned once that my labradoodle occasionally has ear problems, every time Jason see’s Max he checks his ears to make sure he’s doing all good. I always feel incredibly comfortable leaving my pets with Jason knowing that he’ll not only excitedly take them on walks, feed them and play with them, but he’ll also handle any animal emergency situation better than I even could given his experience studying to become a vet and working at animal clinics.
