Dog Lover with Vet Tech experience

Pet care experience

Hi everyone! I'm Jaquelyne and currently a nursing student in Memphis, TN. All animals in my care come first, no exceptions! I build my schedule around my dog...he's RARELY alone for more than 4 hours at a time, even during the work week. Since the age 3, I've had all sorts of pets including 8 dogs, rabbits, fish, hermit crabs, turtles, and also showed horses (not to mention the host of foster dogs in and out of my house!). My bringing home strays and finding them homes is pretty much the norm to my family, friends, and roommates! In addition to pet ownership and sitting experience, I previously worked as a vet tech for 2 years. I am actively involved in animal rescue as a foster mom, and I am fortunate to have worked with a rescue group that is partnered with Animal Planet...what an AWESOME experience (see pics!). I love all dogs, no matter the breed, size, or age. Your pups can vacation on Mud Island at my house with me and my 2 pups, or I can care for them at your home. My schedule is flexible and can accommodate most pets' needs. I guarantee that your pets will be more than well-cared for while you are away. They will be played with, cuddled, walked, pampered, and loved more than you can imagine! And for those who wish me to watch their furbabies at their own home, I'll be sure to bring in your mail and newspaper so you won't have to stop either service while away. I can watch over other pet critters while I'm at your home as well. My AMAZING dog Chester is a Corgi/terrier mix that I found in a dumpster in a parking lot 10 years ago. He is neutered, current on vacations, well socialized, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. Chester is literally my world. So I understand how important yours are to you, and will treat them as such! I will be happy to provide you references to speak with to help your peace of mind when you leave your fur babies in my care. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have. I'd love nothing more than to spoil your pets while you are away!

Jaquelyne is great! My Bulldog can be a handful and she really stepped up to the task. I was updated frequently and there was never a moment when I felt disconnected from my pet. I highly recommend Jaquelyne and will for sure utilize her services again. She is the best. Thank you!

Information Jaquelyne H. would like to know about your pet

I welcome all pooches, regardless of the breed, in my home with open arms. The only exception is females in heat (sorry). In order to ensure the safety of all dogs in my care (including my pups), all visiting dogs must be people friendly and social with other dogs. I feed all dogs separately, so I don't associate food aggression with normal social friendliness (but please give me a heads up about it so I'm aware!). Also, I'd love to know any quirks or special needs your pooch has...no matter what they may be, I can handle it and your pup is MOST welcome at my home. Also, to ensure the health of my dogs and all those in my care, I ask that your pooch/es be up to date on their vaccinations. I hope everyone can appreciate this, as they are intended to protect your pups and mine :)

A typical day

I live downtown on Mud Island and am a regular walking dogs on the trail along the river. My neighborhood is extremely dog friendly, and your pups will be very welcomed. I'm open to dogs sleeping where they are most calm and comfortable. Whether they sleep on my couches, on a pup bed in my room, or in their crate, I just want them to feel safe and happy. Small and medium sized dogs often find themselves sleeping in bed with me! When you are packing for your pooch's visit, the only things I ask you to bring are leashes, food, and medications (if needed). Feel free to include special toys or treats you want your baby to have!
