I am a former school teacher who will be working from home come the new year leaving me with much more flexibility to care for your pup(s)! I have two dogs of my own who help me host. Laverne, a low energy, senior yellow lab and Archie, a playful, 14-lb Chinese Crested. I have been dog sitting for over ten years and have a wide range of experience in terms of breed, age and temperament. I’ve worked with dogs anywhere from a few months old to 17 years. While I am very comfortable with all breeds and ages, I have worked extensively with Pit Bulls and senior dogs. I also foster canines whenever I can be useful to rescues and in more recent years have been focusing on hospice care for terminally-ill dogs. In the past I have volunteered with the canines at the MSPCA in Boston, where I underwent extensive training. Prior to this, I worked at a dog/cat grooming and boarding shop for several years. Dogs are welcomed into my home as one of my own. While my older girl tends to keep to herself, my younger guy loves to have visitors and we end up spending much of our time entertaining our visiting pups together!

Penny had a fantastic time during her week with Janine and her dogs. It was the perfect environment for my dog - who still has tons of puppy energy - to run around in the fenced-in yard, to play inside with her new friends, and eventually to zonk out on a couch. I felt totally safe and comfortable leaving my baby with Janine, and received frequent updates during my trip. Highly recommend!

Information Janine M. would like to know about your pet
Before sitting for a dog, I would like to know how much, how often and at what times they eat during the day. Also how they interact with other animals and people in case we are out and interact with others. I like to know if they enjoy car rides, if they experience separation anxiety at all, and whether or not they're allowed on furniture. I love all breeds and canines of all ages. There's a special place in my heart for senior dogs, but I love and treat all dogs with the utmost tenderness.
A typical day
I enjoy walking around my neighborhood in Gulfport with dog guests and running around in the shaded backyard. We like to venture to local nature trails like Clam Bayou and further out to Myakka State Park. Depending on your dog's temperament and comfort level, the dog park down the street can be a fun option as well. The pups I sit for have full access to my house and can choose to sleep on either of our beds or on the couch. If families prefer their dogs stay off the furniture, I recommend bringing their own beds so they are more comfortable though I do have dogs beds as well. I also have a large crate that my dog guests can use.

I’m currently working from home, taking a hiatus from classroom teaching. This means your pup can hang with me while I work and we can even sneak out for midday walks!
