Your Dogs Home Away From Home

Pet care experience

Hello my name is Janelle, but all my friends call me Elle. I have been a pet care professional for the past 5 years and also am a certified dog trainer KPA CTP. I recently moved to the north Puyallup area, but previously cared for dogs in the West Seattle area with my husband Josh and our energetic Mini Aussies. I've watched animals for friends and family since I was a teenager and have been working professionally on Rover since 2017. My dogs are some of my best friends and if you decide to entrust me with your dog's care, I promise to give your dog the same respect, kindness, and love that I show my own. I love to find the strengths in each animal's unique personality. Over the years I've worked with all types of animals and have learned the most fruitful experiences are those founded on trust. I will always respect your pet's boundaries, listen to your pet's needs and always use positive training tactics. I'm experienced with senior dogs, dogs with special dietary needs, and dogs on medications. My goal when I work with dogs is to create a fun and engaging experience for them so your vacation is truly their staycation.

Janelle was attentive to my senior dog’s separation anxiety and diet sensitivity. We left Tyson at her home for nearly a week. We received updates when we asked for them and when it was time to pick him up, he looked happy and healthy. I will definitely reach out to Janelle again when we need a sitter for our big guy.

We’ve booked Janelle multiple times now and she’s our “go to” when in need of someone to watch Murphy for us. She does a fantastic job keeping us posted and does so with a fun sense of humor. Dogs certainly have a personality and she has captured Murphy’s and knows how to make him feel at home. As a bonus, he gets great socialization with her two pups while he is there! Our experience with Janelle has been nothing but positive. You won’t be disappointed should you book with her.

Janelle and her husband are fantastic. She communicates thoroughly and responds swiftly. When I picked up Pugsley after his stay, it almost seemed like he'd rather stay there! They have a big yard and two sweet dogs of their own. I got a text and pic each day while I was away and was kept up to date on how Pugsley was doing. I know I have some travel coming up again in the next few months and Janelle will be my first request! Thanks again for taking such good care of my little ole man.

Pets spend most of their day with us in the home, and spend nights indoors. I have a fully fenced back yard. The fence is under 6ft in height. We use long lines on dogs that are flight risks and are always outside to supervise outdoor playtime and breaks. The adjacent yards are also home to dogs, so if your dog has issues with barrier frustration please let me know.

Information Janelle D. would like to know about your pet

Dogs of any breed or size are welcome as long as they are a good fit! Before boarding I require a meet and greet to get to know you and your dog. I require records age appropriate vaccines such as DHLPP, Bordatella, and Rabies, and a recent clear fecal that tests for parasites and giardia at least once a year. All dogs should have some sort of flea control. Things I'd love to know about your Pet: Personality (Are they a cuddler, super smart, couch bum) Favorite Owner Approved Treats or owner approved protein Reactivity (Dog-Dog, Human, Leash, Food)* Behavioral Quirks (Triggers, Separation Anxiety, OCD, PTSD) Crate trained or free range when left alone** Health Needs & Medications Food Sensitivities or Allergies Vaccinations (up to date vaccinations please) **I do leave the house for hour long periods for dog-walks so if your dog needs to be crated please let me know.

A typical day

Daytime: My husband and I have a wonderful, fenced yard for our dog and other dogs to play in. We have filled it with engaging toys to stimulate doggy minds and provide hours of fun. We have tug toys, flirt poles, and balls for fetch. For the more relaxed canine we have plenty of shade for lounging. We have long leads available for use for escape artists or owners who want extra reassurance. All outside play is under constant supervision. If your dog goes to the dog park regularly we try to take them to West Crest during his/her stay with us. When the weather and our schedules allow, we also love to hike. With your permission, I would love to take your dog on a hike with us. Evenings: Our house is very dog friendly. We keep toys on hand to bring the fun indoors. We have a puzzle for nose work for intelligent dogs who need to keep busy. Since our own dog loves to snuggle at night and many of our guest do to, we've upgraded to a large king-size bed. Now both humans and canines can sprawl and be happy. Dogs can also sleep in their own personal beds or crates in any of our living spaces or help themselves to our couch or beanbag. Feeding Time: We are huge fans of baby gates and use them to give dogs private down time while they eat. Doggy siblings are allowed to eat together unless I'm told otherwise. This helps us ensure dogs with dietary sensitivities don't accidentally have a snack they shouldn't. We respect your dogs schedule. I try to keep each dogs routine consistent so they feel at home when they're with us and won't have to readjust when they get back to you. I promise to work with you to make sure your dogs needs are met.

I work every other week at a Puppy Training Camp during the mornings and have private lessons in the Seattle-Puyallup area in the afternoons. For the most part I control my own schedule and arrange it to meet my canine guests needs such as potty breaks and plenty of playtime. For younger puppies below the age of 18 weeks old, arrangements may be made to keep your little one with me while I work. As of 7/7/2021 my husband works from home most days. We are both are covered by private pet sitters insurance beyond the Rover guarantee.
