Many years of experience

Pet care experience

I have had a life time of experience! I've owned three homes, all fixer uppers. The last two homes I owned, I had the dogs come to my house. Both had large yards. I've been with rover since 2015 (8+ years). I have over 90 five star reviews, and 48 repeat pet parents. I have no pets of my own. I do enjoy the company of the canines. You can leave your home and dogs in my care, with no worries. I'm available pretty much 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. by habit. I have had dogs in my life ever since I was a young girl, in Berkeley. CA. My neighbors thought I would be a veterinarian, the way I liked animals. As a young girl, I had a duck named Duke, who followed me along the side walk. When I was a teenager I shared my twin bed with our boxer mix, Andy. I had a flock of pigeons, and I would watch them tumble through the skies over the Berkeley hills. As an adult, I raised two hens from youngins and enjoyed fresh eggs in the S. F. Bay Area. My last cat lived to be 13 years old. Also, I love riding horses. I do like the critters. I have cared for dogs, etc. as a profession for over twelve years in the S.F. Bay Area, and now in the Pacific North West. For overnight stays, I need a bed that is larger than a single because I am taller than average. My experience administering medication: Yes, absolutely, I have experience giving meds. I also have taken a first-aid class for dogs at DoveLewis in downtown Portland. FYI - I worked at UC Berkeley for over 25 years. In my last three positions I oversaw the payroll for the departments. In my very last position at UCB I was the Payroll Coordinator for a department, and oversaw 350 employees' pay. I did a lot of problem solving. I am dependable and trustworthy, and I am very respectful of a client’s home, and requests/instructions. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my highest priorities. I enjoy getting to know each dog and work to secure their trust in me. At the meet n greet I bring 2+ pages of questions regarding your individual pet. I have a few private clients.

Jane is so professional and very commutative. I receive updates from her and I feel so comfortable with her watching my cat. I would recommend her to everyone looking for a sitter.

Jane did a wonderful job doing daily check-ins with my three felines. She sent photo's and followed my instructions on how I wanted them cared for while I was gone. Came home to a happy crew. Will definitely use Jane the next time I need a sitter.

I wear a dog walker belt around my waist and the dogs I walk outside of the property are always belted to me. I always walk with a walking stick to keep off leash dogs away from the dog I am walking. I always pick up the poop, keeps the neighbors happy, and I stay away from all other dogs, because dogs are unpredictable. FYI - an overnight stay includes a walk. Please be aware, I will accept male dogs who are not neutered, on a case by case basis. I cannot care for any dog, male or female, who shows any aggression, either on the leash or off, towards other dogs or humans.

Information Jane F. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know what startles the dog, what comforts the dog. I have no breed preferences. How does the dog react to cats, dogs, deer, squirrels? I love dog walking/sitting because I get to spend time with these amazing beings, and I’m always learning from them.

A typical day

In general and when I am pet sitting I usually get up on the early side; I am a morning person. The animals are the high priority. I let them out, if there’s a yard, or prepare to take them out on a walk. I follow all feeding protocols. I never share my food with the dogs. I make a point of taking pictures daily and sending the pictures and a text before 12 noon, every day. I frequently leave on errands in the middle of the day for 2 - 4 hours. If your home is far away from mine, I may stay the entire time on the property. I will be at your home, with your dog a major portion of every day, and all night. I sleep about 6-7 hours a night. I bring all my food and usually prepare food ahead of time so it’s easy to just heat it up. If a dog usually sleeps on the bed, that is fine. I really do enjoy getting to know each and every dog I care for. I like to mirror the rhythms of the dog’s usual day/night. I am able to receive your mail and packages, and get them safely inside. My presence also prevents breaks-ins. I do a thorough clean up, prior to leaving your home. I do not require T.V. access. Strong Wifi and cell reception are must haves. I am a writer, artist and a person interested in many things. I love the PNW because of the beauty and all the weather! I am grateful to be working with all the critters. Let's set up a meet 'n greet at your home.

I am semi-retired and able to stay at your home overnight to care for your dog, keeping to their routines. I can also stop by to change your cat litter and feed them. Chickens, rabbit care, all welcome. FYI - I do not do overnights for just cats Also, the total fee for services may vary from the fee on the initial screen. Once we have a meet n’ greet, at your place, I take into account the complexity of the job, travel time and miles/gas involved. I will inform you at the meet n greet if the total will need to be adjusted. No surprise charges. Sometimes I have declined jobs, but rarely. And sometimes the charges can be lowered. FYI - any tips given to me through Rover do not have anything taken out by Rover. Most clients do not tip. There is no pressure or expectation on my part. It’s part of the platform. And tips are welcome!
