I'll love your dog as much you do.

Pet care experience

Hi, I'm Jan. I just love being around dogs! I have 10 years experience working for an Animal Emergency Clinic and specialty vet, sterilizing surgical instruments and some tech duties (see testimonial from Dr. Daniel G.) I also sat several pets that belonged to the vets, including the clinic owner's animals. I am very comfortable giving shots, medications, or changing bandages if needed. I also worked the puppy section in an animal shelter for about a year which was great. I had a blast every day. It was far from feeling like a job. Over the years I've even trained and shown my own puppies and adult dogs in obedience. I have a really great roommate I've known for over 30 years. She's a total animal lover just like I am. She also happens to be a Rover sitter (Elena D., the one with over 500 5-star reviews.) We co-sit together so the pups get tons of attention. I live in a large house two-story house in a safe neighborhood. I have a doggy door and a large fully fenced yard. I'm home all day so your fur-baby will get all the love and attention he or she needs. There is rarely a time when one of us isn't home. I have two really awesome dogs. They're fixed, current on all shots, on flea, tick & heart worm medication. They both LOVE to play and are great at running your dog(s) tired. Overnights are done indoors where they are safe and warm. Your dog can sleep on a dog bed, in my bed, or in a crate. I'll do what ever it takes to make you and your dog happy. Drop-offs start at 10:30am. SORRY, NO EXCEPTIONS. We offer pick-ups as late as 10:30pm. Arrangements may be possible for later pick-ups with advance notice. Communication is mandatory before all pick ups and drop offs for the pup's safety in our home. Holidays tend to be busier than normal because of our repeat clients. Only one new client is permitted during holidays. I'm a huge dog lover of all breeds, however I do have some breed and temperament restrictions for boarding. Please read my entire profile to view restrictions and my rates to see if we'll be a good fit. Max size I can host is 40lbs. and/or 20" at the withers/shoulders Why I love dog sitting Honestly, I've been a dog lover since birth. I'm the type of person that when I see a dog I ask the owner if I may pet their dog. I believe that there is no such thing as a bad dog, just bad owners. I've worked with dogs at both an animal shelter for about a year and a speciality surgical vet office for about 10 years. I've babysat for some of the vets I've worked with. I've also had 3 years in obedience training and have done obedience dog shows which we've placed in. My pet loving, co-dog sitting roommate Elena has a desert tortoise she's had since he was a hatchling. He's over thirty years old now and is a HUGE dog lover!. She also has two geckos. About my yard I have a huge backyard that's fully fenced. It's secure and over 6'. I have a dog door I can teach your dog to use. The yard is all grass. TONS of room for running, laser, and Chuck-It. All yard play and bathroom breaks are supervised. My experience administering medication I can do shots & pills with ease. *PLEASE ASK FOR ADDITIONAL FEES. It’s from $5-$10 per day depending what needs to get done. This is what I do. I don’t have another job so I’m here with the pups. My roommate also sits so they get tons of attention. She works from home going into the office twice a week. We have a big front room with 7 dog beds and two sofas. We also have beds in our rooms. We have tons of bones and toys to play with and a huge fenced yard.

Jan was great as usual! We use her every time we’re out of town and are always happy to drop our pup off knowing he’ll be well taken cared for. Definitely recommend!

Jan was fantastic as always! Ezzie never likes to be away from me, but she is so happy when she is with Jan! They provide excellent care and an environment just like home. I can tell they really love animals like they are their own! And the updates and pictures are fantastic to receive. I will use Jan for all of my pet sitting needs ☺️!

Amazing job with updates, pictures and detailed descriptions of our pup did. When he returned home, he seemed happy and content—which is a nice switch from so many other sitters. Definitely plan to use again.

There are two of us. Both of us are Rover sitters. We’ve been with the company one year after they started. We feed them after they go out. Then they can co back out again. We have a huge sliding glass door so we can see everything they’re doing from the kitchen. If it’s warm they like to play chase in the yard or ball. If it’s cold they love it when I make a fire. If allowed it’s the couch, bed and in front of the fire. We have toys, bones and chew things. Laser is a favorite here. Dinner. Then we wind down watching TV in the front room.

Information Jan F. would like to know about your pet

I'd just like to know the basic things. Are they up to date on shots? Is the dog an inside or outside dog? Are they on any medication? Do they have any health problems (including worms, ticks or fleas)? Is there any special needs? Is the dog fixed? Has the pup had any training etc... Anything you'd like to tell me would be great too. Males over 6 months MUST be neutered/females over 9 months MUST be spayed. I cannot accept any dogs in heat. If a female comes into heat during the stay, an additional fee of $10 per day will be added. To keep the house as peaceful as possible we can't accept any dogs that are dog/people aggressive (food aggressive dogs are fine. They can be fed alone), excessive barkers, fence jumpers, runners (bolting for/out the door), diggers, or that are high energy. Max weight I normally accept is 40lbs. and/or 20" at the withers/shoulders. On the rare occasion we do take a dog in larger than 40lbs. and/or 20" withers, there will be a fee increase $10-20. Please ask for fees. There is a slight fee increase for: • Special needs dogs • Medication • Larger than 45lbs. and/or 20" withers/shoulders. • Daily dog day care also available for a reduced fee. No age limit. ***Sorry, but I can't take in Chows, German Shepherds, Akitas, Siberian Huskies or Shiba -Inus.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks For liability reasons I do not take dogs out of my home. I have a huge fenced yard which allows the dogs to get plenty of exercise. Your dog's sleeping arrangement They can be crated, use a dog bed or share the bed with me. I want to keep their routine as close to normal as I can. I feel a dog is a family member and should be treated as so. Time I'll spend with your dog As much time as they want. I'm home all day and I have a roommate that's also a Rover 5 star sitter. One of us is almost always here. They'll get lots of play time with me, my roommate and my dogs.
