Pet care experience
I am patient, loyal, detail oriented, and love spending time outdoors, especially with an animal buddy. I've been caring for families' animals since I was a kid. As soon I was old enough. I started volunteering at an animal hospital. At 14 I started my first job there as a dog walker. I continued as a dog walker/professional dog friend for 9 years off and on throughout high school and college. For the past 6 years I have been an animal caretaker for a handful of families throughout the Portland area. From dog walks to full-time 2 month stays, I have watched over dogs and cats of various breeds, sizes, and personalities. I have a flexible schedule as a freelance illustrator and am thus available to love on your animals when they need me.

Yay!!! Our pets and home were so well taken care of while we were away. Jamie was super easy to work with, communicated promptly, left our house in amazing shape and most importantly loved on the animals in our absence. Jamie has dog and cat sat for us often in the past, including two different longer periods of time (5 weeks and 8 weeks, respectively). She's highly reliable and my pets adore her. It's a relief to know we can call Jamie whenever we need or want to travel.

I would like to know if the dog is sociable with other animals and safe with children. I would also like to know any history of triggers that upset the dog or scare the dog, i.e. specific loud noises, objects, people of certain demeanors, etc. I would like to know his limits for distance in exercising on walks and hikes. Does he have favorite toys, food allergies, what commands does he know?
A typical day
Depending on the location, I enjoy taking dogs to the park to provide them more entertainment of sites and smells and exploring. After discussing with clients, I may take dogs to a dog park, if we can ensure their dog trusts and obeys me to return on command. I would also ensure the dog is comfortable socializing with other dogs.
