Experienced, full time, 1 acre yard

Pet care experience

I grew up in Portola Valley, California caring for and enjoying the company and companionship of dogs, cats, horses, chickens and many other animals. I am a dog lover through and through and started pet sitting for neighbors when I was seven years old and have been caring for dogs daily since then. I love dogs and being a protective dog mom myself I always make sure to fully understand the needs of a dog owner, the dog, and cater my time with beloved pets accordingly. I have extensive experience with dog training and handling and have brought many different dogs (including my energetic Doberman, golden retriever and coon hound) through puppy training and all the way through K9 good citizen certification classes. I am available full time and I look forward to helping with your four legged friends by creating a safe and fun walk, sitting or boarding experience. I'm happy to answer any questions you have for me and I look forward to meeting your dogs!

I have watched Jamie with both her own dogs and mine over the years. Jamie has compassion, and a keen awareness of dogs well being. She is always aware of her surroundings when she walks with them to make sure all dogs are safe and comfortable. Jamie is only one of a small handful of people I know that I trust completely with my dog be it for a walk or to dog sit for a weekend. I know my dog will be well cared for over and beyond what most others would do. You won't go wrong if you use Jamie to care for or walk your dog or for that matter any per.

Information Jamie H. would like to know about your pet

During walks, house sitting or house checks, what does your dog like to do? What kind of treats or toys should I bring? Would you like me to work on basic training commands during this time together? Do you have an extremely energetic dog and want me to bring your dog, in my car, to the beach or on a longer hike? I do not have breed preferences. I love all dogs big and small! (However, I will not accept dogs that display excessively aggressive behavior with myself or any of the dogs in my care. I am experienced with dogs and can tell the difference between aggression, nervousness and the "red zone". If you are experiencing aggression challenges with your dog, I can recommend a great trainer for your convenience.) For boarding or house sitting, I would like to know if there are any special needs, medications, foods or other expectations. Are there any other animals that need my attention? While boarding with me, dogs in my care will experience structured and supervised playtime on an acre fenced property with a pool. If boarding with me, can the dog can swim or should he/she be kept away from the pool? How long should walks, hikes or runs be? What are the dogs preferred feeding times or treats? Should the dog be fed by itself, or can it be fed around other dogs? Is the dog up to date on all current shots including bordatella, rabies and influenza? Does your dog prefer sleeping on a cool hard surface or a soft bed/cushion with a blanket? Does your dog need any training work while they are with me? Does your dog like frozen bone broth pupsicles on hot days? What kind of nutritional supplements does your dog take? Can the dog sleep in a crate? Basically, how can I make your four legged friend the most comfortable, confident and happy while in my care? Be it a 30 min walk or a weekend of house sitting, I want to take excellent care of your beloved dog!

A typical day

While with me, a dog will go on walks, hike or run depending on his or her specific needs. If boarding with me in my home, the dog will love playing in a half acre of fenced (6ft) paddock, where I throw the ball and have a dog party. There is a pool so dogs who like to swim on hot days are free to swim. I’m always monitoring swimming dogs and have dog life jackets in different sizes for dogs who aren’t as experienced or confident. I have comfortable beds and cushions for dogs all over the property, inside and outside. There are fully covered dog runs and a horse stall with comfortable shavings for dogs who might prefer privacy, shade and quiet time.
