I have been a dog parent my entire life. I currently am the father of a 2 year old German Shepherd who I rescued when she was 3 months old. I have been the go-to dog sitter for my friends since college. My friends like that I am consistent with their dogs! They know I'm not going to let those cute fuzzballs get away with things their owners wouldn't such as begging, barking, or pulling on the leash. I only believe in positive reinforcement training and will never ever use any type of subversive training tools. When walking dogs I always bring a treat bag so I can reward positive behavior. With dogs that are leash reactive I follow the wall sit method which is to bring the dog along a wall (or fence) and stand between them and any other dog. While in this position I will talk to the dog, give the dog treats, and keep their attention on me until the other dog is out of sight.
