Hi, I'm James – my services here focus on cat care. I grew up in a dog-centric family, so I didn't have a chance to realize I'm much more of a cat fan until I became an adult. I've lived with cats for many years now and I have a keen, discerning sense of how they behave and what they need – and as importantly, what they don't need when they're in solo mode. My work in university student services requires me to be sensitive to nuances and slight changes in individuals and complex systems. I participate in mental health first aid teams at large events, and I volunteer 16 hours per month as an on-call victims services provider at my university. All of this to say: I'm empathetic, attentive, and detail-oriented, and I will bring all of those skills to taking care of your feline loved ones. At the moment I am between pets: my last cat was adopted at an advanced age. It wasn't my intention going in to get a senior cat, but she and I completely clicked when we met, and I committed to giving her a safe landing for her last years. The (too-brief) time I had with her gave me a more complete understanding of the special fulfillment that comes with caring for something that can't take care of itself.
