My wife and I have been dog owners for 30 years. We currently have 3 dogs - two small "teddy-bear" shih-tzu crosses, and a very happy yellow lab. Our home is on 6 acres in the country. We also have 10 sheep and 2 beehives; and also have experience with goats and chickens. I am retired, and my wife works part-time, so our boarding schedule is very flexible. Your dog would live in the house with all of us. We live on 6 acres in the country. Your dog will stay in the house with us, and will get outside for exercise multiple times daily. Our nearest neighbor is a mile away, so stray dogs coming through the yard have never been a problem. Our 3 dogs get along well with all other dogs; our yellow lab is as docile and friendly as a dog can be.
